#18"Y-you're real" I splutted before I could stop myself, leaving one hand wrapped around his wrist and slapped my other to mouth, attempting to stop myself from screaming.
I dug my heel deep into the soft mattress, pushing my torso up.
"No-no" he said frantically. "This is just a dream." His face turned urgent.
I stared blankly at him, at the boy who spoke before me. The boy I'd been waiting for.
"No. No, you're real. You're right here. I'm holding onto you!" I thrusted our hands into the air between us.
"Audrey, you're dreaming" he tried to stand up and brake away, but I didn't loosen my hold on him. Now I had him, I wasn't letting him go.
"You know my name?!" I whispered.
"Well, of course I do" he mumbled, shrugging.
"What do you mean, 'of course I do'?"
"Ah...Go back to sleep, you're just dreaming" he hushed, knowing he'd said too much.
I shook my head, and pulled my other hand from under the covers. It held warmth and shivered when it met the cold air. The boy stopped me just before my fingers met my arm, just before I could pinch myself.
"Don't do that." He warned, restraining me.
"Why not?" I argued, tugging my hand free.
"Just don't" he pleaded, in a similar tone to what he used on the building. That day. Back then. And Now.
I quickly used my teeth to bite my shoulder, covering the same idea that pinching would have.
When I remained where I was and I didn't fall back into a rhythmic sleep, I knew it was reality.
"No. I'm awake. It's not a dream. I'm here. You're here!" I squealed.
"Please Audr-"
"Who are you?" I asked, staring at him expectantly. "Where have you been? How did you save me?" And the most obvious question kicked in.
"How are you still alive?"He sighed, his long golden bangs covering his eyes. The situation was setting in. And I was determined for answers.
"It's a really, really long story. Never ending, actually" he mumbled, reaching for the window.
