Michael heard the faint sound of Calum and Ashton having their usual jokey and cringey "Welcome back stranger" talk. He heard another voice talking, the same one as he had heard on the video message. His heart leaped, and then sunk again. He sat on the floor rubbing his neck. He wasn't the best at making friends. He started down at his feet, and realised he only had one sock on. Typical. "MICHAEL" Calum yelled, "Get your ass out here and stop being an antisocial piece of-"
"Alright Alright!" Michael answered before Calum could insult him any further. Calum smiled to himself, Michael was back to his old self again. Luke chewed his lip ring nervously, he was about to meet Michael, the one he'd been so nervous about. Luke's eyes snapped up from the floor as soon as he heard a lock click and a door open. He watched amused as Michael scurried down the hallway trying to get his sock on and ended up landing straight into the bookcase at the end of the hall. Luke laughed silently. Calum laughed out loud and Ashton did his usual chuckle. "Good first impression Mikey-Boo" Ashton said sarcastically. Michael got to his feet laughing. There was something Luke liked about Michael's expression when he laughed, it reminded him of a baby kitten, he decided to call him kitten boy (in his head of course). Michael and Luke finally made eye contact and they both felt like time had stopped right there and then. They kept their eyes locked on each other for what seemed like forever. Michael broke away first and held out his hand, "Michael Clifford at your service" he greeted in a terrible British accent, "but you can call me Mikey." He winked. Luke laughed, his cheeks turning a little pink. He extended his hand to Michael's. Before taking his hand, he simply said, "Luke" he heard Michael's breath catch, "Luke Hemmings" The two boys connected their hands and shook lightly. As soon as they touched it felt like a million sparks had just blown up around them, and both gasped a little. Calum and Ashton looked knowingly at each other, Ashton giving him an "I told you so" look. Luke pulled away and dropped his hand back to his side. Calum returned to bombarding Luke with pointless chatter. Luke... Michael thought. "Luke" he said again, out loud this time by mistake. Luke was looking at him, confused, "Yeah?" He answered. Good thing Michael was a quick thinker, "Wanna see your room?" He breathed, relieved he thought of something. "Yeah sure" Luke answered smiling. Michael silently high-fived himself as he led Luke down the hallway to the room opposite his. He liked the fact they were opposites. So did Luke. After all, opposites attract. "The walls are pretty plain white right now, but you can change it or put up stuff whenever." Michael spoke. "No, I like it like this" Luke replied quietly. Michael, Ashton and Calum all exchanged glances. Wow, he really was the opposite of Michael. Luke set his stuff down and sat on the bed, looking content and feeling content. His eyes widened and he gasped when he saw the other boys running at him. "PILE ONNNN!" Michael yelled and they all flopped onto the bed on top of a now very squashed Lucas. But strangely, he didn't mind. He laughed loudly, his laugh almost matching with Michael's. "Guys...can't...breathe" Calum's quiet voice appeared, still giggling. The boys all retreated to sitting on the laminate floor of Luke's room, laughing. "Sorry Lukey, it's tradition!" Ashton shrugged, smiling widely. They all suddenly felt together. They felt like brothers. They felt like a band.
