If there was something worse then to die, it's to die knowing you will never see your loved one's again. Not your lover, your friends, and everyone who you came close to. This agony of never seeing them again being what makes a man struggle to hold on to his last breath even as he knows there is no hope for survival in anyway at this point.
This is how Kakashi Hatake, the Copy Ninja, felt as he stared death in the face for what would be the final time. His breathing struggled and heavy as he tried to process what he could do to live and win this fight. To escape the horrors of never seeing such important people in his life ever again being the only thing keeping him together other then sheer will power. Kakashi didn't want to die, no matter how often he thought about his death and was willing to die for his village. He didn't want to die now.
The thought of leaving Yamato, Guy, Naruto, Sakura, and so many other people made him cling to anything to keep himself alive in a losing fight with death. Both of his eyes wide as he looked around for the person who had caused this, and wondering if they had left or were simply waiting for Kakashi to get up from the floor to finally end the battle.
The Copy Ninja would never get up though as his eyes became heavy and the thoughts of the people he was leaving behind became of the people he would see again. The man's vision blurring into a mess of dark colors and faint movement in his vision. His body in absolute agony at this point as he now heaved for some sort of air to allow him to live just a bit longer.
Kakashi would let out a final, struggled breath before his eyes would finally blur entirely and he would close them. Lying in a pool of his own blood that had been the death blow for him. His body now completely still including the struggled rising of his chest and twitching of his fingers. Everything was still and silent and he was gone from the world he treaded for so many years and at first bittrely till he met Team 7. The enemy who caused his death now gone without another word or action. Leaving Kakashi's body to become of use to the animals as food and to simply rot away.
The only trace of the killer of the Copy Ninja being a single stray shuriken that was buried deep into the tree close to the mess of blood that Kakashi lied in. The rest of the world around the corpse of the silver haired Shinobi being silent and of trees surrounding where the fight had taken place.
Kakashi would open his eyes again though, but he would no longer breath, and no longer would people be able to see him the way he once was. He will live the rest of his non-existent life as an lonesome spirit who would be stuck in a limbo of being unable to do anything except move on.
The Copy Ninja would not step forward towards the bright lighting of a path surrounded by yellow and warmth though when he did open his eyes to be greeted by the odd scene. Something he noticed while laying and processing the fact he was now dead was that no one was there. The yellow path was lonesome, and it was then he realized no one waited for him in the afterlife. This realization causing his mind seemed to send him back into a darkness. Rin wasn't there, Minato wasn't there either, the path was empty.
Kakashi seemed to simply glance at the bright light for a moment longer, only thinking that this wasn't his time to die. That he could have found a way to live, and to get back to all of those he loved. This process of thought seeming to cause a sudden action with the path of light. It closed up and left Kakashi to fall to somewhere he thought was hell with the darkness wrapped around it. Sending him down but without a single sound.
He landed roughly on the ground in front of what was the gate of Konohagakure. His body unharmed from the fall, leaving him to simply stand up and look at the gate of the village he called home with confusion. Wondering why he was put back on Earth and here and not with his body. The silver haired nin simply standing as he thought of what he was going to do now, as only a ghost.
