Chapter 18

Lexis POV

I heard shuffling around me. I heard beeping and screams of hurt. I heard crying and panic. I didn't know where I was or what was happening. I tried to open my eyes but I couldn't. I couldn't move. I had no idea what was going to happen next. Until I heard the words
She's dying

What? Was the only thing I could think. Were they talking about me. I can't die. I finally became happy. This is my punishment? This can't be real. I hear a familiar voice. The one voice I did recognize. Taylor. He was screaming at someone. I didn't know who and I could only make out a few words.

I need to!.. Girlfriend!... Now!... Don't understand... Let me... Dying?... No...

The voice was now getting closer. I heard the curtain open and a different man say something.

"You can't be in here."

Taylor didn't listen. He sat down right next to me and placed his hand gently on top of mine. He played with my fingers and my hair.

"Lex, you can do this. Stay here for me. Please." He repeated over and over. It's not like I wanted to give up, but how do I control it?

"Lexi, you're the best thing that ever happened to me. I need you."

His words were hurting me. Am I really making someone happy? Right now Taylor could be out screwing some other girl but instead he's here, talking to someone who is basically dead. No one has ever came close to showing this much love towards me. I tried to squeeze his hand but mine refused to move. Damn it. I can't even open my eyes, yet I'm completely aware of everything.

I try again. And again. I did this for a good five minutes. But no part of me will move.

"Alexis.. Please. I need you now. You can't leave me. I'll do anything I have to just please.." I heard Taylor plead. He was crying. I could tell. His voice was cracking and I didn't want to do this to him. I can't even imagine how heart broken he would be if I left. I need to stay. I can't leave him.

"You need to leave. Now." I heard a voice say. Assuming they were talking to Taylor. He kissed my forehead gently and stood up. Not letting go of my hand.
"I love you" he murmured to me.

I tried with all my strength to grab his hand before he let go but I failed. I still heard his footsteps. And I made one last effort to let him know I'm not giving up.

"I-I love you" Oh my God. The words came out. My eyes opened a tiny little bit. Far enough were I could see but it was still all a blur. I wasn't sure if Taylor heard me.

*Taylors POV*
I went to see Lexi today. But she wasn't awake. The doctors told me not to go in there but I argued and argued and just walked in. I sat in there talking to her for about ten minutes. I'm not sure if she heard me but I love her and I need her to stay with me. Soon the doctor came in and told me I needed to leave. I kissed her on the forehead and held onto her for as long as possible. I began to walk away but I heard something. I stopped dead in my tracks.

I love you

I couldn't move. I was surprised. I turned around to see her eyes partially opened. I ran back up to her and gave her a hug. I had tears running down my face. The doctor came in once again to tell me to leave but he saw she was awake. A bunch of doctors ran in the room and were messing with her monitors and giving her fluids through the IV. I can't even imagine how she's felling right now.

The doctors kicked me out of the room and I texted Julie to get to the hospital now. She arrived in about twenty five minutes later and I explained everything to her. Well, her and James. We were all so shocked but we were crying. The doctor walked out to us.

"We aren't sure what happened but she did wake up and is now getting less fluids. But I need to ask you guys one thing." He paused for a moment. "What happened to her?"

We all looked at each other until the doctor spoke up once again.

"I need to know why both of you have been in the hospital this week." He said I'm guess to James.

"Our guardians." James spoke letting out a breath. He looked down at his feet. Then back up at the doctor. "They abuse her and I tried to help her but I was thrown up against the wall. Then, when she came in, we were at Julies house and they showed up. Alexis answered the door and they hit her."

The doctor looked confused but also sympathetic. 

"She can leave tomorrow morning but I think it's best if she stays with someone other than your guardians. So?"

Julie went to say something but I was quicker.

"She can come with me!" I said smiling.  "I'm on tour so she can stay with me and I'll be everywhere so they won't know where she is." I finished.

"I think that's a good arrangement." The doctor said. "James, where might you stay?" He asked.

"I'll probably stay with my buddy Mike." James replied.

"Okay, well, could you guys maybe run to her house and get some of her stuff?" The doctor asked us.

We all stood up and got on our way. She stopped at her house first and her aunt and uncle weren't home so we hurried and grabbed a bunch of her stuff. We went to Julies go get her other things but when we got there, we received the biggest surprise of our life.

What do you guys think the surprise is?? Omg I guess I'll be updating somewhere around every three days because that's how it keeps working out. And I'll update my other story when I get a read on my most recent chapter of that story but other than that I'll update it regularly.
