I figured that while I recover myself, I will talk to you about the dragon metal figure I mentioned earlier.

Besides you, diary, that little dragon is the most important thing to me.
It was given to me by my father as a birthday gift. Even though he would never tell me what truly happened at the coronation, we still had a good relationship.

However, he did not support my strong feelings for magic. He did not hate it, but he was forced to do so.

That dragon is a symbol that he still cares for me, and that he shares that hope for magic to come back.

I have always been amazed by dragons. They were big, powerful,  loyal, and according to legend, they were born with the purest hearts in the entire kingdom.

Of course, there were despicable and evil dragons, but that depended on who their master was. Their perception of what is good was taught to them by their masters, or, if they were wild dragons, by their respective mothers.

There are many stories told about dragons, and there have been many elves that dedicated their lifes to writing about them. The more the King forbade this books, the more interested was shown in them.
There was this dwarf, named Yackie, who is in my opinion the wisest dwarf that has ever existed, who wrote 75 books about dragons. Yackie was the dwarf who made it acceptable to write about dragons. I have personally read 74 of them, because the last book was burned in a terrible accident.

You probably remember that I told you that dragons and unicorns are extinct. That is probably the easy answer. There are many myths that say that there are still some dragon eggs left in this world, and nobody has said wether this is true or not. According to Yackie, this myths could be true, but that still makes dragons extinct. In the case that there were some dragon eggs left, we still would have to find them, and most importantly, "open" them.

The funny thing about Xeros' dragons is that they are not born immediately. Some eggs can be there for 1000 years waiting to open. There is a phrase that says: "dragon eggs do not open alone or for the mere act of being born, dragon eggs require much more than that to open, dragon eggs open for someone. ".

It is as strange as it sounds, but there is a logical explanation for that. Dragons are the creatures with the purest hearts, and the moment that a mother dragon lays her egg, the dragon chooses someone to "wake up" for. Most of the cases it's for their own mother, but they can also open because of people from different races. They create a bond with that special person, and when that bond is as strong and pure as they are, they break the shell. If they choose a person , they will become their partner for life; if instead, they open because of their own mother, they can either be wild dragons or follow another person if that person creates an special bond with the dragon. With dragons it's all about bonding. That is the reason why they are the creatures with the purest heart, because they are not interested in money, lands, victory or honor, they only care for making others happy.

Once a strong bond has been created, they will never forget you, or leave you behind. They will always try to keep you safe and happy. That is why there are many stories and rumours about dragons who were "evil", or of dragons that sacrificed themselves for someone else.

That is why in my opinion, dragons are the best creatures. They are the creatures with the greatest heart.
