Dear diary,
I know that you think that the title is quite suggestive, but it is not what you think. I am not hidden besides a rock afraid to get out (although I kind of am, not gonna lie). I found a place in which to spend the night, next to the shiturdy river (the left one). It is a cave, full of shiny rocks in the end, but quite dim altogether. It is not very noticeable, because the entrance is quite small, and easy to cover.
I have tried to find an alternate entrance, and by doing this, I discovered the reason for such a small entrance. It was a two-level cave. Looking at it from my perspective, you entered through the cave's small entrance, in front of the river, and started going inside.
You find two paths, one which leads to a dead end, full of shiny rocks and precious gems, and one by the left, which apparently leads to nothing special. But if you get further in, you will come to find something really special. A gift from nature.
You will come to an end, and the walls will be as shiny as the sun. Not enough to blind you, of course, but I had never seen so much light inside a cave. The thing is, that is not the real secret of the cave. It startles you with its pretty rocks and gems, but if you look up, you will find a message.
The reason why I looked up was a coincidence. I was walking and staring at the beautiful walls when I was about to go to sleep, but out of pure curiosity, I forced myself to get to the end of the left side of the cave. When I got to the end, I decided to go to sleep. I usually sleep facing down and with my face on the side, but the walls did not allow me to sleep. In the dark, any light, no matter how dim, starts shining as if it were the brightest star in the universo. So I decided to change my sleeping position in order to sleep. That was when I noticed the writings on the ceiling. The person who had written that must have been a really well educated person, because the writing was written with really complex and extravagant words.
It was written in old Zarian, and it had the musicality of a poem and the descriptive language of a novel. Some of the letters were worn off, but I finally figured out what it was trying to say. I guess that what my father used to tell me was right. It is one of the things I miss the most about him; even if we had our rows and battles, he still is a really intelligent person. Not intelligent enough to escape from the big lie we live in, but smart enough to give you really great advice. He always used to tell me that I was really lucky to have the access to so many different types of knowledge. That is probably one of the reasons why I paid attention in almost all lessons. I had not payed that much attention to my old zarian lessons, because, after all, it was old Zarian, no one used it now.
Luckily, back at Natraco, Shila's father reminded me of the importance of our ancestors, and I got determined on learning what I had deemed as unimportant a few weeks ago when I started the second semester at the Trivilium High School. I did not tell you about this because I forgot . I was planning on writing it to you when I got to Wisdom tree, but we both know how it all went. While I was ill and could not get up, he insisted on teaching me, and I actually learned a lot.
It is not that different from our actual Zarian, so it was not that hard to learn. Now, back to the writings, what they said was that not everything was as it seemed, and that if you had been able to unravell the message, the secrets of this cave would be easy to find out.
The first clue was in latin. It said: "if the right clue you want to find, the right path you must pick. Going right or wrong is your choice. Do what is right and figure out what is wrong; do what is wrong and unveil the secret hidden years ago."
It was not that hard to figure it out. It was confusing because it played with the word "right". If you chose the right path, meaning the right side of the cave, you would find the clue. If you went wrong, here meaning left (right-left ; right-wrong), you would unveil the secret of the cave, and if you went right (to the correct side), you would figure out what is wrong. So, if you went right, you would figure out the clue, but it is wrong. You needed to know the clue in order to find out what was wrong, so that when you went left, you knew how to unveil the secret.
As soon as I got to the right side of the cave I knew I could not stay awake for much longer. I decided to drift away into sleep and continue tommorrow. I hid myself on the right side of the cave, in an irregular area that was at a different level tan the rest of the cave. It was deeper, and not easily seen. I covered it with some soil and leaves that I had gathered along the way so that it would be "at the same level than the rest" and hid myself in it, just in case someone came.
