Thalia POV
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"How the fuck do you think I have nothing to worry about?" I hiss in a harsh whisper, infuriated Cross can be so casual over the phone.
I'm not an idiot, and I'm far from paranoid. These last few days have been the same. I can feel eyes on me when I'm walking the busy city streets. As soon as I leave AllSafe, I'm followed to the China Wok or the Subway on 23rd. Yesterday as I was coming home from defense training, I finally got official confirmation of what I already figured out.
I'm being followed.
"Jesus, Tink. What the hell? That note the Enchantress found could've easily been for her, or even me."
A low growl nearly builds in my throat, one that I swallow.
"Then why did it have my initials, Nolan?" I challenge, annoyed Cross is using a partial of my code name while talking to me. Code names within Raven-Hood exist to keep people distant from one another. No friends, then no one to really face the possibility of losing a real person. It's cold, but intelligent for the line of work we were frown into.
But Nolan and I aren't like other members. He knows me. At least he did before we were involved.
A heavy sigh escapes him, almost as if he's annoyed."Look, Thalia. If I thought this was something truly serious, I would handle it myself."
"Oh, I'm sure you would." I smart back, not believing this for a moment.
"What does that mean?" Cross asks gruffly.
It means I believe he's a severe butthole of a friend. Truly, that's the best way to sum Nolan up in recent months. We were friends for years. Two people who would do practically anything to help one another. He and Chloe have been the closest I've ever had to real, true friends. But that came to a halt. Last spring, Nolan and I were undercover for a job out in New Orleans. We had a little too much to drink one rainy night, and one thing led to another.......To sum it up, I never got so much as a morning after phone call.
"It means I was stupid in assuming this stupid charade of a friendship would go back to normal after that one stupid night." I reply dryly.A heavy silence follows, no doubt Cross sensing I'm still very angry about that night.
"Just....Just don't go to that meeting, Thalia." Nolan says quietly. "You don't know why the person left that message, just be smart and don't go."
Clicking the phone off, I shut the power off completely. There's not a snowballs chance in hell I'm not going to meet my hacker.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I arrived at Ron's coffee shop forty-five minutes early. I wanted time to scope the place out, and to set up some wires. Using a disguise of a shoulder length blonde wig and an oversized pair of sunglasses, I bought a cup of medium roast and proceeded to walk around admiring the fall decorations. In actuality, I set up multiple raisin sized cameras and voice enhancers. Whoever this person was, I would be sure to have evidence to stack against him.
After carefully making sure every inch of the place was wired in at least some small way, I left the coffee shop to change into some different clothes. In a bathroom at a nearby club a block away, I change into a casual long sleeved shirt and jeans, with a short spiky dark wig. To complete the look, I even add a pair of small square framed glasses to give my new look a more mousy appearance.
I feel more than satisfied arriving back at Ron's coffee. My half ass disguise easily fakes the dark haired bimbo at the register as I buy yet another cup of medium roast
Time passes.Twenty minutes morphs into a half hour, before I realize the person is twenty minutes late.
