"Undisclosed Desires" by Muse

I didn't get far with Elliot following behind me. It was maybe ten feet into the forest that Elliot suddenly came to a stop.
I did too, feeling that something must've happened for him to have suddenly sunk low onto his knees gasping for breath. Looking around, I'm feeling certain he must've been shot or something such. Elliot looked to be in sudden pain. He was gently shaking as he say sunk on the forest floor, his aqua eyes wide and staring at the ground.

Hurrying over, I kept low incase he did manage to get shot. Inwardly I was cursing herself - how could I bring him along? It's not like I didn't already know Elliot didn't really seem like a fighter. Bringing him along on a breaking and entering that he clearly had no idea how to accomplish was stupid on my part.

As I reached him, I couldn't help but frown upon seeing that there was nothing wrong visibly on Elliot. He wasn't shot, stabbed, or even attacked by anyone. His pain was invisible. Elliot clutched onto his stomach, his eyes tightening shut. He was too pale, where he looked sick all of the sudden.
"Hey...what happened?" I whisper, gently nudging his shoulder.

Elliot's eyes flick up to stare at me, slightly flinching from my small touch. It kind of pissed me off. He has no problem laying his hands on me when I don't want him to, and yet he flinches by my touch?
"N-nothing." He stuttered, his eyes wincing once more.

This was a lie. He couldn't even look me in the eye as he said it. Swinging my bag of supplies over my shoulder, I extended a hand to help Elliot up. He simply stared at my hand and then at me. It was as if he didn't want to touch it.

"Let me help you up or I'm leaving you here." I say coldly, hoping he hurries and grabs ahold of me before it's too dark to see out here in the forest. It's only that as his hand extends and I feel his fingers brush against mine do I realize he can't come with me. Elliot was gently shaking, looking as though a flu had suddenly overtaken him. He quickly releases my hand, taking a step forward only to be overcome with more body trembles.

"Dammit." I mutter, looking behind me and then back at the highway. There was no way he could come along. I didn't know how messy it was going to get breaking into the guy's house - how could I watch Elliot while also finding the damn access card?

"I c-can do it." Elliot nodded, stepping forward as I put a hand on his chest. He accidently stumbled forward, his face only inches from mine. Elliot's eyes flicker down to my lips for a nanosecond, leading me to watch his face for a few seconds rather awkwardly.
It was wrong, but I didn't actually mind the sudden close proximity Elliot gave me. A small flutter went through my chest as he leaned closer, only to lean away quickly.

My eyes widened upon my sudden realization that his leaning away disappointed me. Carefully moving around Elliot, I step down the path we came from. "C'mon."

Elliot stares at me in the dim light, his eyes widening. "We can't go back-"

"-And I can't bring you. Let's go."

"Go without me, then." Elliot said, before suddenly stumbling as he attempted to take barely half a step.

"I don't leave a man behind." I reply, coming forward and throwing his right arm over my shoulder as I place my left arm around his waist.
Elliot's eyes suddenly widened, where he flinched against me. If he didn't like my grabbing his hand before, this must be terribly uncomfortable for him.
"Yes, I'm holding your waist. Stop thinking and just walk." I snarl, unsure of why I'm suddenly being so hostile.

Elliot frowned, but he began walking, his steps fidgety. He looked a tad pale when we were in the car, but I attributed it to both slight nerves over what we were about to do along with him obviously not getting enough Vitamin D in life.
"You don't have to...help me." Elliot finally says after we make the careful walk towards the direction of the highway.
