Snowhawk

"Come in." I say to Cory as he stands at the threshold of the door. He does.

"Peter, come in." He nods at me and walks inside.

"Ms Winters, my name is Peter, nice to meet you." He puts out he's hand to greet my mum. My mum gives me a look that instantly tells me. "Do not bring two boys home next time." I smile at her in a rude manner. I do not know why but I feel angry at her. Change of plans, Cory and I are sitting at the kitchen bench with them so it's not awkward. "And I'm Cory." They both smile and I feel myself go red in the face. This really is a bit awkward. "Nice to meet you boys too." She gives me another look as to say 'Two boys Tash, really?' I give her a quiet giggle and a smile. "Would you guys like a drink?" We all nod and she gets us a glass of water each. It's quiet, no one is talking. "Her heart rate is jumpy, she is trying to control it, does she know about us?" Cory whispers to me. "I don't know Cory, sorry. Peter are you hearing this?" I whisper because I know they can both hear me. Peter gives us both a slight nod as my mum turns around with drinks. "Thanks mum, can we go to my room?" She gives me a slight eye roll "Shit." Cory hears her say under her breath. We grab our drinks and walk into my room. "So how are we going to do this then? We need to go back in and talk to her. "We all take a sip and Cory and Peter both choke on the water but immediately tries to stay quiet. Cory puts on the radio...loud! "Oh My Gosh! Are you guys okay!" I move quickly towards them. "Snowhawk!" Peter chokes. "What the hell is that?" They both regain speech and stop coughing. I turn the radio back down. "Snowdonia Hawkweed." They both whisper. "It's a poison to vampires. Skin to skin contact with this, or if we ingest it is harmful, it makes us weak. Burns our skin. To humans it's a protection against the compulsion of a vampire. You can wear it in bracelets, if it's on you your protected. If ingested, to us it's like poison blood, we can't feed on humans that way." Cory explains. "We do have some, and so does this town. Humans know about vampires here. Well it is known." Peter says. "But they don't know who. And no, it's not us murdering those innocent people they call animal attacks." Peter explains. Just as he finishes my mum walks in. "Hi guys, just checking in." I notice her glance at the boys. Did she hear them choke? "We are fine mum, thanks." I tell her to distract her. "We should go....it's obvious she knows we don't even need to ask her." Cory says softly after she leaves the room. We all stand up and walk toward the front door and past the kitchen. "Oh you boys going?" She asks them. "Yes, we are, Thankyou for having us but we realized we have somewhere to be." Peter answers for them. My mum follows us to the door, as I go to open it she holds it shut. "Wait a second." She turns around for a brief second and as she turns back around she jams a knife into Cory's stomach. "MUM OH MY GOD WHAT THE HELL!" I say panicking I run over to Cory and she pulls the knife out. "Oh darling, we all know he can heal." She says with a rude smart ass tone. Peter vamp moves up to her and she instantly jabs a needle into he's neck. "What are you doing?" I ask her. "Snowhawk. It will knock him out for a while." she explains. "No it won't. I'm older than you think and I've built a slight tolerance when I know its coming." He grabs her by the neck and lifts her off the ground. "Peter put her down, now!" I demand. He drops her and she falls to the ground. I rush over to Cory and lift he's shirt to see the wound. It's small. And healing by the second. "This isn't normal are you okay?" I ask worriedly. "It's healing Tash, I'll be fine." He stands up, wipes the blood off he's hands and helps my mum to her feet. "What are you going to do?" I ask. They both grab her and speed out the door to my car. I run after them. "Where are you going?" I ask. "Get in Natasha, we are taking her to our place, we know what we need to do." Cory explains. And that's what I do, because as crazy as it is. I trust them. My mum was knocked unconscious by the fall. When the boys put her in the car she wakes up. "Tash. Run" I hear her yell. She is weak. "No!" I yell back. "Don't move." Peter says to her. "No asshole I'm on snowhawk!" She spits in his face. I hear a loud thump and realise Peter has punched my mum unconscious. "Peter. No!" I say. "Tash. Had no choice!" He mocks me.
