Dear Diary,
New town. The first day went, well I'm not too sure actually I guess it was okay. I felt like the new alien rather than new student, people whispering as I walked past, judging every little move I made. I met someone. Out of all people it was a guy. In the most cliche way, I bumped into him because I wasn't looking where I was going. You know me, I am the clumsiest girl out. There was something different about him, he was almost perfect. Mature, it was awkward yet he brushed it off like it was normal, he was welcoming. I'm not going to do this. I can't. Guys...boys, no! We both know what happened in Atlanta and it can't happen again. I will not get close to anyone. Atlanta was my fault and everyone knew it. I am not going to be the new girl who gets obsessed with the guy who hurts her in the end. I am not going to do anything of the sort....
Just as I close my journal the doorbell rings. "Mum, the door!" I yell out from my bedroom. No response. I get up and run toward the front door. Shit. I can't answer the door like this, grey trackies, no makeup, no bra over my t-shirt!! Ahh. My mum isn't home. Suck it up Tash. To my surprise when I open the door I see Cory. Out of all people!! "Umm, hi." I lean against the ajar door and slip when it gives way and swings open, hitting the wall next to it. I hit my head on the front door and almost fall on the floor, he grabs my hand and pulls me back to my feet before I hit the ground. "Hey." He says laughing. I don't even bother to create a 'moment' with him. I do not need a 'boyfriend'. "How do you know where I live?" I ask looking confused, I look around the street wondering if there was anyone around but there wasn't. "Well, umm" He looks down at he's feet for a few seconds before looking up again. "It's a small town, I asked around for the newbies with the mini cooper." He continues. "Okay then.... well do you want anything?" I ask giggling a little bit but slightly uncomfortable. "I wanted to ask you if you want to go get coffee, I can show you around our lovely small town of Peach Hills?" He asks me happily, looking like he desperately wants me to say yes, I take the chance and decide to go. "Why are you being so friendly?" I ask with an unsure look on my face. "I'm sorry?" He responds, shocked. "Oh my god I I am so sorry, that was horrible! Yes, of course I'd love to. Let me change first." I explain. I run upstairs leaving him outside and the door wide open. "It's fine, I'll wait here." He yells from outside.
"This is The Hills, our hangout, cafe, meeting place, restaurant. Everybody comes up here." He explains as we arrive at the door. He offers me his hand for me to take, and I do. He walks me into the cafe and people turn their heads as they hear the door closing. I quickly pull my hand away from his and walk closely behind him. "Hey Kap!" Cory says happily to the waiter. "Cory, my man. Who's this?" Kap says looking toward me. "Tash, this is Kap, a good friend of mine." I shake his hand and he takes our orders. I order a latte, one sugar. "I'll have a black coffee please." He says as he hands back the menu's we don't need back to Kap. It's an awkward silence until our drinks come.
"So Tash, where are you from?" He asks. I take a sip of my latte. "Uhhh, I don't really like talking about my past" He gives me a weird, unsure look. "I mean..if you think about past, you'll miss the future right?" I laugh a laugh that I don't even believe myself but I hope he does. "Yeah, okay I guess that's true." He stands up out of he's seat. "Where are you going?" I ask him. "Did I do something wrong?"I say jokingly. "Need to...use the bathroom." He said it like it was almost an excuse. He takes another sip of the coffee and walks off.
He returns back shortly afterwards. "Sorry, I'm back." I smile and drink some more of my coffee. I notice a darker patch of black on he's black t-shirt. "What's on your shirt?" He looks down as I point. He wipes it with he's thumb and licks it off. "It was just...pie." I nod confusingly. "We didn't have pie...." I respond. The rest of the coffee drinking is awkward, silent and the only thing keeping us from leaving is his large effort to create small talk. "I'll walk you home." He insists. I nod and he pays the bill.
"So, Tash...is that short for Tasha?" He asks. I don't know if he is joking. "Natasha." I say. He starts laughing and gives me a wink. I try to loosen up the rest of the walk, I am guarding him off like he is poison and it's wrong. I don't know him well enough yet.
When we get back to my house he walks me to the front door. "Thanks, for the coffee." I say. "It was no problems. I like you Tash, your a cool girl." I smile and I can tell in he's eyes he is leaning in to kiss me. I try to talk and stall. I don't think I want to kiss him. I turn around to unlock my door. I feel him tightly grab the side of my waist, I turn around and he's lips are on mine. I pull back, but he doesn't let me. "Your hurting me!" I say while his lips are on mine. He grips on my side tighter and puts he's hand on the side of my cheek. "OW! Cory get off me!" I grab my hands and push him away. I look at he's face and he lets go of my waist and removes he's hand from my cheek. Suddenly he's eyes start puffing up and looking bloodshot. "Cory. Are you okay?" He turns around so he isn't facing me. "Yeah I'm fine there is something in my eyes, dust or something. Tash, I'm so sorry I don't know what just got into me." He turns back around and he's eyes are fine. He seems sincere. "It's fine. I'm gonna go inside now, thanks again for everything."I turn around and go to unlock my front door for the second time. When I turn back around to say goodbye he is gone. Out of site. I didn't even hear him run away or leave. I walk down to the front of the street and he isn't there, like he just dissapeared. I brush it off and close the door behind me.
I go up to my room and before I know it it's 8:00pm, then 9:00pm, now 10:30pm. Time flies when your on Facebook. I get up out of bed to go see where my mum is. I look around the house but I can't find her. I choose to call her but goes straight to voicemail. I'm getting worried. I wait around in my kitchen till 11:00pm and I hear the front door open. "Mum, is that you?" I ask, I could hear the shakiness in my own voice. Why am I so scared? It's not like me. "Yes honey it's me, I'm sorry I'm late sweetheart, I was....out, looking around town, and I met someone." She says shyly. "Who?" I ask her. "Just some man from my new work, I got a job teaching literature at your school." I smile and give her a hug. "Goodnight mum, I love you." I tell her and give her a kiss on the cheek. "I love you too." She responds. I go into bed and before I know it, I'm asleep.
