"Jake ! drive faster!" We're speeding through the empty streets, dimly lit by the flickering streetlights. Crossing road after road, not having any idea where the hell the hospital is.

"I can't, I can't if we get pulled over were in deep shit. I don't have a license!" He looks back at us for a second and immediately starts to swerve.

"Jake! the road!"

"Sorry! Sorry, its confusing with the wheel being on the opposite side and all."

"Jake there! turn right!" Sarah jumps up on her seat, pointing to our right and accidentally steps on my foot. I let out a little whimper as I am still barefoot.

"Oh god Chez, what happened to your feet? Why are you barefoot!?" I look down, surprised to see my feet all bruised up, a little cut on the side that has dried up blood turned brown with dirt.

"Its fine, I can't even feel it." Sarah looks around the car Nicola rented for us yesterday and finds a bag. She eventually pulls out a pair of socks.

"Typical Nic, Little bunny socks." Sarah laughs before bending down and putting them on me.

"Here Chez, wear these until we find a bathroom."

.....

Her voice pierced my circling thoughts like an electric bell.  I look to my side, recognizing the familiar touch on my hand.

"Chez calm down your hands are shaking." Sarah has her fingers wrapped around mine. Her free hand running up and down my spine as she knew any form of affection always helped keep my mind of what was bothering me.

"When are they going to let us see her."

"I'm not sure babe, I still can't get a hold of Nic, I think her phones off but the guy at the desk said she's in the recovery room, so that means she's fine right?" I don't answer her question because I'm thinking the worst. My palms are damp, my eyes are watery, my stomach twists in knots, my throat is dry, and my head is throbbing from a bad head ache that formed on the drive over here. I take in a shaky breath and lean onto Sarah's shoulder as her hands pull my body towards hers.

"Are you okay Chez? I know how much you hate hospitals."

"Yea, I'm fine. I just want to hear that she's okay already."

....

We've been sitting in the waiting room for about 2 hours now. Aiden and Tommy met up with us as soon as we got here. They were as shocked as the rest of us about the car accident. Its just about to turn 2am and everyone is fast asleep, spread across the chairs as they finally found a spot they are comfortable with. Jake, Aiden and Tommy lay on the chairs in uncomfortable positions. But it doesn't seem to bother them one bit as their blood is still thick with alcohol. I'm slipping in and out of consciousness, my body cuddled up to Sarah's as her head rests on top of mine. The rest of me sat there on the chair, unmoved and detached, thinking and caring for one thing only. Kimberley. I decide that I should probably check for an update on her seeing that it has already been 30 mins since I last checked. I slowly lean up and Sarah begins to shuffle into a different position, freeing me from her embrace. I'm a state and I should really be embarrassed by my appearance. But I can care less at the moment. I hate hospitals, they bring back so many horrible memories that I try to push to the back of mind. The last time I was in a hospital, I had so much hope that my mum would be just fine. And now I can already feel my heart crumbling in my chest at the chance of losing Kim. The thought is worse than prison.
