Muse A and Muse B have been friends since Childhood, they grew up alongside one another with a fascination with the afterlife and things that go bump in the night, and even bear matching tattoos: Ouija planchettes on their inner wrists. Muse A's has "Hello." and Muse B's "Goodbye." So it would be cruel Irony that an accident cuts Muse A down in the prime of their life, Muse B by their side even in their final moments where a promise was made: "I'll tell you all about it." After their passing, Muse B is inconsolable, covering their tattoo with long sleeves and wristbands to avoid thinking of their friend.
It's on the anniversary of Muse A's death that Muse B finds the spirit board in the apartment they share, and in a moment of grief, decides to set it up. With the living room dark and their thoughts solely on Muse A, Muse Bmakes first contact with a spirit, and they seem to be the perfect sort of familiar, the greeting a polite "Hello."
As the game continues Muse B begins to think that perhaps the spirit may be their former friend, come back on the anniversary of their passing to make good on their promise to tell Muse B all about the afterlife, and about a way to perhaps, see one another again.
Possible Outcomes
Muse B is not communicating with the spirit of Muse A but a demon that becomes increasingly malicious in their pursuit of Muse B, Convincing them to do dangerous things with the promise of reuniting the grieving Muse B with their friend.
The spirit is in fact Muse A, but driven mad by their isolation in death, they have returned to try and convince Muse B to take their own life and join them in the shadowy place between the living and the dead.
The Spirit is in fact Muse A, and has returned to speak with Muse B again, to tell them what the afterlife is like, and perhaps receive help with their unfinished business so they may finally pass on.
