Michaels pov

"No Michael...i mean her body. It's gone."
I froze. The frying pan slipped from my grasp and fell to the floor with a loud bang. Luke jumped at the sound. He looked up at me but I wasn't looking at him.
I only stared straight ahead, zoning in and out of reality, trying desperately to piece my thoughts together.
Her body is gone?
Why would someone take her body?
She's dead...why would they take a dead body?  Would she be buried? Would she be laid to rest? Would there be justice for her death? How can there be justice when there is no body?
I zoned back into reality when strong arms wrapped around me. I gently rested my head in the crook of Luke's neck as he rubbed small circles in my back.
I wanted to cry. To be angry. To feel something...anything...but I didn't feel anything. I'm just numb...
"Everything will be ok...we'll figure out who did this. We'll find her body. Ok?" Luke said in a soothing voice.
Will everything be ok?
Aunt Carol is dead. The only thing I have close to family. She took me in when I was abandoned....she raised me as her own. She's the only one I truly know and now she's gone. I'm alone again ... Just like when I was a baby. A freak with no family, no home, no one... I'm alone...
"Michael...say something..." Luke whispered nervously.
"I'm alone Luke...I have no one...what else is there to say?..." I whispered back.
"No Michael..." Luke whispered, his voice cracking, "your not alone. You have me...I'm not going anywhere, I promise...you will never be alone."
"How could you be so sure?.." I questioned.
"Because I will always be there for you. I know we only met a few hours ago but I swear I've never felt like this before, I've never felt this certain in my entire life. Michael, I promise you that I will protect you and be there for you for the rest of our crazy lives...." Luke whispered into my ear. His hot breath tickled my exposed neck, sending goosebumps racing down my spine.
I wasn't so sure if I should believe him, if I should trust him or not. But something was telling me to take a chance on him... Even if it kills me.
Slowly, I wrapped my arms around his waist, pulling him a little closer to me.
Minutes passed but it felt like hours. The both of us stood there enjoying the warm embrace.
"We should go to bed...its been a long night." Luke finally said.
It wasn't till then that I realized just how tired I really was. Luke slipped his hand in mine and led me out of the room and up the stairs.
"You can sleep in my room...the guest room I use as a office...I can sleep on the couch."
"No!...um...please stay..."
I climbed into the bed, making sure to fold my wings, and waited for Luke. There was a long silence before I felt the bed sink a little.
   "Thank you..." I whispered.
"For what?"
   "For everything...goodnight."
"...goodnight."
I bit my lip and leaned forward into Luke's chest. Luke slipped his arm around my waist.
I smiled to myself as I felt Luke playing slightly with my pink hair. Warmth radiated off of him, enveloping me like a blanket.
My eyes began to close slightly. After all that has happened I expected that I wouldn't be able to sleep. But sleep over took me anyway.
