"You could at least pretend that you're helping." Changmin huffs as he mounts the second staircase, trying to keep the pile of boxes stacked in his arms balanced by resting his chin on top of them.

"I am!" Jaejoong insists indignantly as they reach the third floor and he holds open the door, "I'm official door opener and cheerleader."

"Cheerleader?" Changmin snorts, shuffling down the hall towards his new dorm room and suddenly he wishes he hadn't asked when Jaejoong breaks into a new-dorm-room chant, moves and everything. "Please, just get out."

"Lucky for you, Little Shim, my shift at the bar starts now," Jaejoong grins and opens the dorm room door for Changmin.

"Thank you, God." Changmin says to the ceiling and Jaejoong punches his arm, kisses him wet and sloppy on the cheek and leaves.

After 7 trips up and down the stairs (after little help from Jaejoong) Changmin's belongings are finally all in the dorm, albeit not in the right place and everything still in boxes and suitcases. It's only when Changmin starts going through his boxes and finds a very, very pink and flowery Wonder Girls poster buried amongst his CD's that he meets his roommate.

"Nice poster," he hears from behind him and he turns around, poster still held open in his hands.

"Evil best friend," Changmin says with a glare at the poster, before throwing it back in the box and looking up to see, he guesses, his roommate pulling a box into the room, "you're Yunho right?"

"Yes..." Yunho answers and Changmin smiles at how suspicious he sounds.

"I face-planted into one of your boxes a second ago," Changmin explains and briefly waves a hand at one of the boxes on the floor labelled Yunho, "it's hard not to know your name after falling straight into it."

"Oh, I see," Yunho nods with a smile and a laugh, starting to pull open the box he'd just dragged in, "I'm just going to pretend I already know your name to make this less awkward."

"Changmin." He prompts, trying not to laugh as Yunho struggles with the box.

"Totally knew that already." Yunho sing-songs and Changmin likes him already.

"You know," Changmin says, crossing his legs as he sits on the edge of his bed, contemplating whether to actually do any unpacking, and Yunho pulls out a stuffed Bambi toy from his suitcase, "I wouldn't have expected you to like Disney."

"Why?"

"Because you seem quite sane on the outside." Changmin knows they've only just met but he can't help teasing and he hopes he hasn't just ruined the chances of having a nice roommate. He's reassured when Yunho just laughs heartily, throwing the toy at him.

"And you looked like a polite little college student." Yunho snorts, continuing to unpack.

"Ah, never judge a book by its cover."

Jaejoong's completely ridiculous, over the top and has a tendency to call Changmin 'Little Shim' despite the fact Changmin's much, much taller than him. But it's all those things that make Jaejoong his best friend.

And the most annoying man on the planet, but that's beside the point.

"How's the roommate?" Jaejoong asks as soon as he picks up and Changmin can hear him shuffling around through the phone. It's two days later and Changmin's been too busy unpacking, decorating and getting to know Yunho to talk to Jaejoong properly.

"Awesome, he's studying dance and Japanese. He came from the country so there aren't many people here that he knows, we're already pretty close. It's good."

"Why do you sound so upset by all this?" Jaejoong questions with a laugh and Changmin checks to see if Yunho isn't secretly hiding in the bathroom.

"I'm not, I swear." Changmin says and it's so unconvincing he doesn't even believe it himself.

"What's really the problem?"

"Nothing!" And then after a beat, "...He's really fucking hot and nice. And hot." Changmin pouts even though Jaejoong can't see him, and buries his head in his newly sheeted bed.

"My baby's all grown up," Jaejoong sniffs and there's the sound of the oven timer going off in the background, "I'll ring you later, dinner time!" Yunho takes that moment to walk into the dorm.

"No, don't ever ring me, my roommate might pick up and sing you 'A Whole New World'." Changmin says, deliberately loud enough for Yunho to hear and to signal to Jaejoong that Yunho's back. There's a brief silence before a pillow flies straight into his face.

Between trying to get Yunho away with his foot and also trying to protect his CD's from their war he thinks that maybe this year is going to be okay.
