Sonic and Tails were, both, fast asleep on the floor in Tails' room, a small candle between them, twigs with chard ends in their hands, and papers scattered around them. The papers were covered in crazy ideas the boys had imagined, ranging as far as shrink rays to time travel; they plan to build something as soon as Sonic's foot was well enough.
Shadow and Tikal stood in the doorway looking down at the sleeping boys; Tikal smiled an carefully picked up Tails an placed him in his bed, while Shadow picked up Sonic to take him home; he nodded to the orange naga for a silent good-bye and left with the young blue ball of fur in his arms, who snuggled against the elder's soft chest as a cool breeze brushed across his face.
Shadow slithered down the large halls of his home, and up the stairs to his bedroom, he lay the sleeping hedgehog on a pile of soft, fluffy pillows and covered him with a warm blanket; Sonic stirred slightly at being separated from the naga's warmth, whimpering silently before settling down, curling up in the pillows like they were a cave. Shadow stared at the angelic face of his visitor, the faint glow of his pale skin soft as the light of a full moon; ignoring the temptation before him, he forces himself to go to his bed and rest until morning.

A loud banging rang through the halls of Shadow's home, the large alpha's eyes shot open and looked over to where Sonic slept to find he was wide awake and staring at the door.
"Shadow?"
"Stay here..."
Sonic watched as Shadow slithered out of the room, locking the door behind him; he reached the front door and opened it to revel a mirror image of himself.
"Mephilis."
"Shadow."
"I expected your visit yesterday afternoon."
"Something came up, that's not a problem is it?"
Shadow stared for a second before slipping to the side to let him in.
"Not at all. Are the others here with you?"
"They mentioned that they would be here at some point."
"Very well."
The two alphas sat in the meeting room, waiting for the other two to arrive, while they waited not a word was said, a few glares were exchanged but nothing else; down below in the bedroom, Sonic waited, not realizing Shadow had locked him in, he crawled over to the bookshelf and selected a rather thick book, inside he found hundreds of sketches, several of a young girl whom he assumed was Maria, the girl Tikal had told him about, others were of trees, lakes, flowers, and things like that, but then he started to get deeper into the book and saw sketches of nagas he recognized one of Amy, Tikal and Tails, so the other nagas he took a guess at that they were other nagas that were in the tribe; but as he turned to the next page he froze.
It was a sketch of him, a very detailed one, he stared at the picture on the page, astounded by the amazing attention to detail.
"Wow...either he has perfect photographic memory or he's been paying closer attention to me than I thought."
------------------------------------
Hours had passed and Sonic's stomach was growling at him, demanding that he give it food; Sonic groaned as he held his stomach trying to silence it, he tried again to open to the door only to find it was still locked; he had already read all the books on the shelves all forty-two of them from start to finish and even took a nap or two; Sonic was becoming agitated and wanted desperately to go out not only that but to run, he wanted to run faster than he had ever run before, he wanted to run up the mountains and down again, down to the ocean an dig his toes in the sand, to feel the wind brushing against his face and through his quills, he wanted out. Sonic knew the sun was setting by this time, he had spent all day in the bedroom, his feet tapping the ground and his fingers fidgeting with a few out-of-place quills.
At last he heard the lock to the door click and open to reveal an exhausted Shadow, the naga fell on the bed grumbling under his breath in an irritated tone, Sonic stared at him for a moment taking in the information of this scene before him, quickly figuring out why Shadow had locked him in the room in the first place and remembering that Tikal had informed him that this tribe is the only one that doesn't eat mobbians or humans at all; all his eagerness to leave this room had suddenly vanished as he looked at the black heap on the bed, calmly he walked over and carefully touched him on the arm, but quickly jumped back when Shadow growled at him, making the blue boy excited to leave the room again, he ran out and to the kitchen to fill his first need; food.
