"Yo! Javi! You hear from Beckett or Castle?" Ryan was whispering to the man across from him so his boss didn't find out.
"Nope. You?"
"Cause I would ask if I had."
"Dude, you think we should send someone out there to check on it?" Kev had to think on that one. There so many things that could have gone wrong, but sending cops out there could make things four times worse.
"I think we should just go out there."
"What?"
"One of us at least. We send Unies in there, and things could get a lot worse." Javi knew Kevin was right.
"So what do we tell Gates?"
"That Laynie found something."
"Dude, I don't-."
"Javier. Come on. I'm going. Now, it's up to you whether you're coming or not." Espo looked at his boss, then his friend.
"I'm with you bro."
"Alright. Now, prove your loyalty and go tell Gates."
"What?! Mmm no. Ain't happening bro. But you got this, right?"
"I hate you. Just a little, but I hate you." Ryan took a breath and prepared to face the iron Gates. To his surprise, they came out first.
"Esposito, Ryan. In here. Now." Not good. Defiantly not good. The two exchanged a look as they rose and began toward the door. Neither wanted to be the first in, but they didn't act suspicious. They seemed normal to themselves, but to everyone else they were over acting.
"Yes sir?"
"In. Now. Door. Closed." Javi came in second and proceeded to close the door. "Now, which one of you wants to tell me you both knew about you partner and writer boy running off to save their- Kris."
The two exchanged looks before saying, "They did what?!"
"Oh. Ha-ha. Real funny. Save it. They were both lucky they weren't killed, but apparently they will be going on trial. One of them shot three men."
"What?"
"Mhm. Now, you two knew and you didn't tell me. Why?"
"We thought they'd be fired." Espo broke first.
"Plus, they obviously care for Kris more than either of us thought, so..." Ryan defended.
"They killed people, Detective Ryan. And I know that they cared for Kris. Why the hell did you think I took the off the case?! To be mean?" They looked at each other. "You know what, don't answer that. But your friends killed men. So go, find them, and bring them in. And if they don't cooperate, there better be hand cuffs around their wrists."
"Sir."
"No. You two are doing this, and you will bring them in or else you'll be the ones in handcuffs. Is that understood?"
"Yes sir." Ryan seemed to be the only one with any sign of life. Javi just stood still, breathing, and staring into his boss' eyes.
"Detective Esposito, is there a problem?" Javier looked and saw no sign of her budging on this. If Castle and Beckett shot anyone, they were doing it in self-defense. Anyone who thought anything else was crazy. Espo had known Beckett for years and Castle for at least longer than Gates did. They were a family, and Javi wouldn't turn his back on that. The fact that Kevin was so willing to bring them in, to set them up as murderers, it made Espo's stomach turn.
"I won't handcuff them."
"Excuse me?"
"Javi."
