"Excuse me?!" this chick was off her rocker.

"Sir, that's-."

"Insane? Detective, I doubt you are as observant as this child. I doubt you memorize simple facts as fast as her. And I bet that if she got the chance now to take down any one of those men who kidnapped her, she could now." Gates said.

"Yeah right. I'm a kid. I've just always had a good memory and good observation skills. It doesn't mean I could take anyone down."

"And, not to mention, if she could, don't you think those instincts would have kicked in when she needed them most?" Kate was absolutely right.

"Yes, well, we saw how her observation skills have immensely grown over the last three days. Now, I'd love to test her combat skills." Kate and I gave the same look, although I think I was thinking an entirely different thought. I wanted to try them on Gates. "Stand up, both of you."

"Why? If you think I'm going to throw a single punch her way, you are dead wrong."

"I don't want you to punch her. I want her to stand, and I want you to stand." We did as we were told, facing Gates, waiting for instruction. "Turn towards each other, Beckett, put your hands up, palms out; Kris, put your fists up like you are going to punch her, then go crazy. Fist to palm only." I did as I was told, facing Kate as she faced me. Somehow, I found myself in a boxers pose, hands opened and in loose fists to my face, guarding the nose, eyes and rest of the head, bouncing on the ball of my feet slightly just to keep moving. Kate face looked a little surprised between her hands.

I took my best hits, patterning right, right, left, break, right, left, left, right, break, right, right, break, left, right, break. When Kate looked up behind me, her face changed a moment. Behind me I could hear two footsteps that were soft and then three more that sped up towards me. I instinctively dropped into a small ball, feet firmly planted on the ground, arms cross over my face and holding my balance. Behind me I could hear Gates stop a moment before she tripped over me, and I spun around, leg out, tripping her to the floor. Once she was there, I regained my stance with a jump up and placing my foot on her back.

As she laid there on the floor, I began to process what just happened. I hadn't yet turned around to see the look on Kate's face, keeping my eyes on the woman beneath my food. To be honest, I wasn't sure I wanted to see her expression. But something, I wasn't sure what, told me to look at her, and, with my food still on Gates' backs and my arms still in attacking fist mode, I merely turned my head to meet a her shocked, repulsed and concerned eyes. Then, her eyes wandered from mine to my stomach. When I followed, I looked down to see blood beginning to leak threw the bandages.

The moment I saw it, I moved backward and sat in the chair behind me. Kate followed, sitting in the chair beside me as Gates stood, fixing her shirt. Kate placed her hand on my side, causing me to flinch, and then picked up her phone. When she Gates saw my sides she stood, eyes wide and mouth ever so slightly opened, and then took two steps toward the door. Kate frantically dialed 911. "Hello? Yes, this is Detective Kate Beckett... Yes, I need an ambulance at the twelfth precinct... No, we have serious bleeding from multiple lacerations to the back and stomach... Alright, thank you so much." She hung up. "They will be here in two minutes, just hold on until then, okay?" I guess what happened last time got to her. Gates stood at the door, which was now open.

"Come on, Kate, help her out the door. Let's take her downstairs."

"Look, no offence Sir, but we don't need your help. I got this." Talk about "hell hath no fury", Kate was defiantly a woman scorned. She and I both didn't want to do this in the first place, and now I was losing so much blood so fast I could very well die. Great. I hate this day already, and we've got no way to go but down.
