"Stop! Don't hurt her, she's just a child Harold!" Mom yelled with tears all over her face.
"Shut up! Do you think I'll listen to you, you slut?" He yells at mom, then turns his direction towards me. "Now if you be a good girl-"
"MOMMMMM!" I screamed.
~~~
"Rose baby wake up! It's just a dream." She abruptly shakes me, waking me up from the nightmare.
I rubbed my eyes, trying to remember why we are in the car. Then it hit me, we moved.
"So we're here?" I asked in the midst of yawning.
I checked the time and it read 6:55am. Damn it's early.
"Yup. We're a few hours ahead of schedule so why don't we set up the blow up mattress and you can sleep for a little while longer. I need some rest myself."
I took this time to take a look at my mom analyzing the bags under her eyes. She truly looked exhausted.
As the day passed by our three bedroomed house was now filled with our belongings. This isn't our first fast move so by now we knew the drill.
Fortunately today is Saturday so I have one more day to enjoy until I have to start school, again.
Don't worry Rose, you're a junior. Finish this year, and then senior year will go by like a breeze. I keep telling myself that in hopes that one day I'll actually believe it.
Knock Knock
"Come in!" I yelled.
"Hey honey I'm gonna head off to bed. I just wanted to come in and say goodnight. Also I need you to go grocery shopping tomorrow, I'll make you a list." She stated as she leaned over and gave my forehead a gently kiss goodnight.
"Night ma, love you." I replied as she made her way out my room.
I woke up in the morning and took a quick shower. I threw on some yoga pants and a hoodie to start off my day.
"Hey honey, I went to Dunkin to grab us a quick breakfast. The grocery list is downstairs by your coffee. I'll be working from home today so call me if you need me." She said from the top of the stairs as I had already made my way down.
Mhm, coffeeeee! I grabbed my food, keys, and the list and headed out the door. I decided to drive my car today since mom had me ride with her for the move. We had my car shipped to the house and fortunately with my moms connections it came pretty quick.
Pickles, pickles, pickles, damn no pickles. Where can they be?
"Hey do you need any help finding anything?" A girl with long brown hair and blue eyes asked with a genuine smile.
"Uh yeah, where are the pickles?" I asked awkwardly.
"Dude I love pickles! There in the next aisle over, I'll show you if you want." She says nicely.
Wow first interaction with someone here and she's pretty nice.
I nodded as I followed her to the next aisle.
"Babiessssss!" I yelled as I looked over all the different containers holding the pickles.
I heard a laugh to my side and totally forgot I was not alone. I chuckled realizing how weird I am.
"Hey don't sweat it the judging zoo is closed. I'm Giovanna by the way but you can call me Gigi."
"Gigi, you can call me Rose." I smiled as I picked out my pickles and placed them in my cart.
"So you're new around here? You're in high school right?" Wow Gigi sure knows how to make conversation.
"Yup, my mom and I just moved in yesterday. My first day at Bolton High is tomorrow." I explained.
"Oh cool that's my school! Here give me your number, I can introduce you to my friends tomorrow. You'll love it!"
I exchanged numbers with Gigi, and paid for the groceries. One day down and I already have a friend. So far so good.
