I walk into the cafeteria and head straight to my table like always. Usually I'm the first one there but surprisingly everyone is already seated and in deep convo with one another. The only seat open is in between Jason and Logan, maybe I can try to figure out what's up with Logan these past few days. As soon as I sat down they all went quiet, each giving me their own sad smile.
I shuffled in my seat feeling awkward that all the attention is on me before asking, "Did someone die?" Still no one talked, but at least they all shook their heads signaling a "no". I looked around the group trying to find the weakest one that would break and tell me what the hell is going on. Logan has been very distant so I doubt he'll tell me, and Jason seems lost in his own world so that's a no go. I'm too scared to ask Chase, and Naomi is sitting at lunch with her other friends, my only option is with the couple. Gigi is too strong if she didn't want to tell me something she sure as hell won't, my eyes then land on Dylan.
I wait until he notices my deep stare, then look him up and down. He shuffles and tries to look away before his eyes meeting right back with mine. He brings his mouth close to Gigi's ear, "She's staring at me." He attempted to whisper. Gigi rolls her eyes at her boyfriend, "She can hear you, ya idiot." I feel my lips move upwards at their little exchange but stopped myself remembering the position I'm in. I decided to pull out the puppy dog look, never failed me before. I stare at Dylan with my lip pouted and my eyes wide, finally he gives in.
He sighs, "Okay okay, we're all worried about you." Right as the words left his mouth he received a loving smack to the head from Gigi. Worried about me? This was a freaking intervention? I shook my head very confused, "Why would you be worried about me?" This doesn't make any sense. A moment of silence passed and I was beginning to get impatient with my friends. Ditching the puppy dog look I glared at Dylan, once a snitch always a snitch...right?
"We know what your brother said to you, maybe you should listen to him." Gigi said looking at me as if I was physically hurt right in front of her eyes. I groaned just thinking about my last encounter with Isaiah. I take the chance to glare at Chase since he was the only one able to know what my brother had said. He brought his hands up high signaling his surrender, "I swear I wasn't gonna tell Rosey, but they practically tortured me for it. It's all Jason and Logan's fault." He then pointed his finger accusingly at them.
Jason just rolled his eyes while Logan gave Chase a very deathly glare. "What the hell Chase that's not what happened! I asked you for a pencil and you freaked out and said you'll tell us what we need to know if we didn't take your money." Logan said coming to his defense. "Now that I'm thinking about it, what money huh? Since I always have to buy your lazy ass lunch." Jason finally speaking, added on.
I just shook my head not really caring if the group knows anymore. I'm still gonna be in the big fight even if it's not what dad and Isaiah want. I cleared my throat before speaking, "Look guys yes Isaiah told me to back out of the fight but, I won't. I'm tired of running because my dad and brother are too scared to face our problems together as a family. This fight means everything to me, I'm not going to quit just because I don't have my brother's blessing." I wait for them to soak in my words and give them a reassuring smile.
"It has to be dangerous if they don't want you participating in it." Gigi frowns, clearly not supporting my decision. "Gigi I'm going to be fighting, no part about it isn't dangerous. I've made up my mind and I hope you can support me and my decision." I frown back. I really wanted to have Gigi cheering me on, that would be the only fight Dylan would let her tag along to.
"If you're going to be in the fight you bet your ass I'll be there cheering you on! I just want you to be careful, you can't blame us for being worried." She did have a point and if it were any of the others I'd feel the same way for them. I nodded my head and mouthed the words "thank you" to her. She sends a wink my way and I giggle at my best friend, it feels good to have a good friend like her.
Jason put his arm around my shoulders, my body frightened at first but then I snuggled closer enjoying the new contact we are sharing. I looked over at him and saw a small smile tug at his lips, only making me grin in satisfaction. Off to my side I heard Logan clear his throat before he tapped my shoulder, "Rose you're training with me after school, you have clothes to change into?" I looked at him in shocked since that was the first time he actually talked me in a while. I nodded my head, "Yeah I'll change after next class and then meet you at the gym?"
Instead of answering he just nodded his head and left the cafe. What the hell is this? Does it even count as progress? Jason snuggled closer to me before whispering in my ear, "He won't be able to actually fight you considering his foot, you needed a break today anyways so it's a win win." He smiles but I can't help but roll my eyes. "I don't need you guys going easy on me, if anything without my brother's support I need you to be 10 times harder." I said meaning every word. He nodded his head and I sent him a small smile. I definitely have to figure out what the heck Logan's problem is tonight.

With my luck I got stuck in traffic and hit every red light before I made it to the gym, so I wasn't surprise to see Logan had already beat me there. When I walked in the place was empty, and music was blasting through its designated speakers. When I finally approached Logan his back was faced to me but it was clear he was well aware of my arrival. "What took you so long, you literally just had to drive from school to here." He spoke, not even turning around to face me.
I stuck my tongue out at him, "Let's just say today is not my day out on the road." I answered while wrapping my knuckles up. "Yeah well start off with some warm ups, give me twenty five push ups." He ordered and I did as I was told. Once we finished up with the warms ups, he put on the pads that cover his hand and stood in the ring, I walked over to him and waited for my instructions.
"When I say left hit the left one, same goes for when I say right. It's simple, so don't mess up." His monotone voice is really starting to piss me off.
"Left." I hit his left hand following his instructions.
"Right." This time I spoke while hitting his right hand, "So you're gonna tell me why you've been giving me the cold shoulder?" I asked bringing both my hands up waiting for the next hand I'm suppose to hit. "Right." He just ignores me, but looks straight at my eyes. I hit it with much more force trying to gain his attention at the topic at hand, "Logan seriously-" He didn't let me finish, "Left." He spoke again. This time I backed up giving us some space and just stared at him.
"Left." He repeated but I just shook my head, "Didn't you say this fight means everything to you? Stop sta-" I cut him off getting tired of this tension between us, "This fight means everything to me, but so do my friends. What the hell is your problem Logan?! Tell me!" I yelled getting extremely fed up, walking up to him so I was all crazy mad in his face.
"I like you okay! You're my problem!" He yelled back and placed his hands on my cheeks. His words punched the air in my lungs right through me and I was shocked, I was focusing so much on his words that didn't even realize he was leaning in. I placed my hand on his chest and he stopped immediately, "But why have you been acting like you can't stand me lately?" I furrowed my eyebrows truly confused. His thumb traced circles on my cheek as I listened for his answer, "That's not true, I just couldn't stand the fact that Jason got you before I had any chance. I'm sorry for the way I've been acting." He apologizes and relief suddenly flows through me. "I respect you and Jason, he's my best friend so I promise I'll behave and things happen to not work out maybe we could give it a shot?"
I give him a big goofy grin, "All is forgiven as long as you don't give me the cold shoulder anymore. That is truly more painful then any hits I'll receive the big day." I place my hand on my heart dramatically and he chuckles at the sight. Then serious trainer Logan came back, "NOW ENOUGH WITH CHIT CHAT LOVEY DOVEY SHIT! WHEN I SAY LEFT YOU BETTER DAMN HIT MY LEFT AND IT BETTER BE A DAMN GOOD PUNCH!" He yelled settling back into trainer mood.
I rolled my eyes, "On second thought, bring back cold shoulder Logan."
