Raven Haired Boy (10k Love Story)

Weeks had past. Me and Addy had gotten closer she was like a big sister to me. Although Murphy was annoying and Cassandra was extremely quiet, The whole group had grew on me.

"10k!" I shout.
He ducks Bang! I fire the gun clean through the Z's head. I twist my whole body, and jab my knife into the temple of a zombie. I retrieve my knife easily. Gun shots are fired. The next corpse challenges me and lunges at my shoulder, i stab my knife into its head i try to pull out the knife, its stuck. More zombies are running towards us some in military uniform.

10k kicks the Z down which enables me to retrieve my knife once again, and we both continue destroying the brains of the desiccated bodies attacking us.

More Gun shots are fired in the distance leading almost half of the zombies away.

Whack! Addy joined in with killing the newly turned Zs, and one by one the group catches up with us fighting the remaining zombies.

"That was a hand full" Doc sighed. "Just turned..." 10k stated.
"Must have been they military guys that had there base set up." Warren said. "But what killed them? They survived this long" i spoke with suspision.

"Shes been bit!" Murphy yelled...

We quickly turned around to see Murphy pointing towards Cassandra who was looking at her wrist. Doc stepped in front of Cassandra "thats not a bite" he exclaimed. "But it is a nasty injury, better get this cleaned up before it gets infected."

We all wondered back staggering like zombies to the truck. Everyone was exhausted, the water supply was low and Murphy didn't stop complaining the whole way back.
After what seemed like forever we found our truck where we left it. Doc patched Cassandra up "if this looks inflated or discoloured tell me" Cassandra nodded to Doc.

It was our usual places, Warren driving, Addy in front, and Doc, Murphy and Cassandra in back, then it was us. Warren drove in the direction the shots came from, while we passed the last of the water around.

I was so tired. Today was a long day, not that any other day isn't as long but this day felt longer. I could feel my self slowly drifting off to sleep with my warm cosy blanket wrapped around me.

I awoke to a bump on the road that sent shivers up my spine. I just stared up at the night sky, the stars gently twinkled the more i stared the more stars became visible. 10k was still awake. "Hey" he spoke gently. "Hey, You slept yet?" I whispered with a sleepy voice. "Nah" he said as he looked towards me.

"Do you ever try to forget the world, hoping that it will make everything okay?" He asked gently.  "All the time... But then i wake up every morning and realise, this is it."

He used his backpack as a pillow and lay next to me. I shared my blanket with him.
We both looked at the dark gradient sky for a moment, not saying anything.

"10k?"
"Mmm..."
"Whats your real name? " i whispered curiously...
"Tommy" he mumbled sleeply as he fell asleep.

"You awake?" Addy whispers waking me up. "Yea... I am now" i smiled with my eyes half open. "Whats up?"
"Cassandra's missing..." Addy explained.

"How long she been missing? "
"Since this morning" Addy replied.
"Wheres 10k?"
"He's away looking for her"
I nodded in reply.
"You want breakfast?" Addy asked
"Yea"
"Okay we can look for Cassandra after breakfast"
Do you think Cassandra has just left the group? What if she wanted to move on? Why would she just... Leave? All these thoughts swirled round my mind, while Warren made breakfast... Balut (developing duck embryo).

I didn't eat breakfast... I couldnt... I thought i would throw up.

"Okay, listen up! Hope you all enjoyed breakfast this morning" Warren said sarcastically "Everybody knows Cassandra is gone, now i don't know if she has left or... "
She was interrupted when, 10k came out from the bushes carrying a body in his arms...
