Danielle
My alarm, blaring some shitty boy band that's all the rage with adolescent girls, wakes me up in mere seconds, allowing me to turn off the monstrosity. I almost instantly notice that the time is quarter to eleven as well as Gerard beginning to stir in his sleep.
"Gerard." I sharply whisper a few times before he wakes up.
"Huh?" He says, his groggy morning tone taking place in his voice.
"My mom's going to be here any minute now. And I would prefer for her to find out about us in a... well a different way then, this."
"Yeah I think I would too." An awkward laugh bubbling out of his mouth.
I get out of bed, promptly feeling chills traverse up and down my near-barren body. "Shit." I mutter under my breath, remembering that I haven't checked up on Aleah since late last night. "Hey Gerard?" I turn my head, seeing that he's already gotten a pair of sweatpants on.
"Yeah Dani?" His voice, slightly muffled, as he looks through his suitcase for what I suppose is a shirt or something of the sort.
"Could you please check up on Aleah?"
"Yeah, just give me a minute." I notice he pulls out a Black Sabbath shirt and starts to put it on over his slim, yet slightly tubby figure.
I slide open the drawers to my dresser, taking a pair of light washed capris and a 'nicer' looking shirt that I reserve specifically for when mom and/or dad come to visit. I pull my curled hair into a messy updo, knowing that my mom's going to insist on taking us... well, me... out to lunch once she arrives. I slip a bracelet or two onto my bony wrists, hearing a car pull into the driveway. My heart rate begins to rise, remembering that last time my mom was here a few plates ended up broken along with a cup or two. I mumble a mix of obscenities under my breath, quickly walking into the living room, grabbing Gerard by the hand and pulling him into my bedroom.
"Woah, woah, woah, what's happening?"
"Get dressed and shove your suitcase under my bed or something. Just don't come out until I come and get you." He nods his head, but a confused expression still remains on his face. "Just kiss me goddam-" His lips, firmly pressed against mine, cut off my last word as I succumb to the infatuation held in the kiss.
I hear the spare house key jingle in the doorknob. The door slams open, almost creating a dent in the drywall.
"Mom, how-" She shoves her petite suitcase into my arms along with another miscellaneous bag or two.
"Put those in my room, would you?"
Oh how very Yoda of you mother.
She straight away walks over to Aleah, sitting on the chair she's claimed ever since she first set foot in the house. I roll my eyes, trying to think of the possibilities, the reasons, she would even decide to visit in the first place. Let alone so all of a sudden.
Gerard:
Has hurricane mom hit Chicago yet?
You:
Category 5 mass destruction
Gerard:
Just let me know when I can make an appearance
You:
Believe me. I'm trying to get you out of there as soon as possible
Gerard:
Got it ;) Just make your way out of the hurricane safely please
You:
I'll try my best <3
"Danielle, honey!" My mother beckons from the living room.
"Yes?"
"Come here darling!" I walk around the corner until I notice her piercing blue eyes that will make you spout the truth behind a lie at any given time. "There's a new restaurant in town and since you look... well, uhm, like a proper young woman, we could grab something to eat? Find you a husband?"
"Mom!"
Really? First you tell me that I don't look like my gender on a regular basis besides this one day you've decided to come to visit? And now you want to set me up with someone?
"Don't yell at me young lady!" She stands up, her posture pristine as all hell.
"Not in front of Lea ma." I make eye contact with Aleah, and by this point in the many visits from my mom and dad, she takes the stern eye contact as a sign to leave the room.
"Why won't you let me make you happy Danielle?"
"I don't want to be set up with a rich, snobby son of one of your old friends! I'm happy with G-"
Nope, nope, nope, nope. Shut up, shut the fuck up, shut up, shut the fuck up.
"-with Aleah and myself... by ourselves."
"You're hiding something." Her eyes lighten up, a fantasy-like flash of green making itself relevant in the corner of her iris for a mere second.
"No." I furrow my eyebrows, casting an expression of faux confusion.
"You know I'll find out Danielle, I always do."
