I'm sitting in class. Everybody bored until an unusual announcement went through the school.

"Everybody evacuate the school. Fine your family and hurry to Atlanta; nowhere else is safe."

All the kids instantly ram from their seats and stormed away from the school. The teacher did too. I got up and about 8 people are pushing against me at the same time to get past. I pack my things and ran outside. There were kids screaming and adults uniting with their children. I looked past the crowd and saw these other people. They had very dark, greenish skin and some had chunks of skin missing. I wanted to vomit.

"Emily let's get out of here!" Drake yelled at me.

Drake grabbed my hand and ran me back to our home. We were brother and sister. Our parents were there. They observed our bodies, looking for something.

"Were you bitten?" Mom asked.

"No," I replied.

"Quick. Let's get out of town," Dad interrupted.

Me, mom, dad and Drake ran into our car. One of the strange looking people threw itself onto our car and moaned loudly. We sped out of our driveway and out of town. I saw people: friends, neighbours; all being eaten by the strange people... Eaten? They ate the flesh.

"Mom, what's going on?" I asked nervously. Did I really want an answer?

"Do not get bitten by those things." Mom said.

"That doesn't answer her question. What is going on?" Drake demanded.

"Those... Different looking people..." Mom began.

"What about them?" Drake wondered.

"They are not alive. All your friends that look like them... Their not alive. But they will kill you." Mom explained.

"Where are we going?" I ask.

"Atlanta. Nowhere else is safe," Dad replied.

I looked out the window. Nothing but trees. We lived about an hour away from Atlanta. I looked at a week old news paper. A picture of a cop was on the cover.

"Police-man, Rick Grimes, was shot on the job and was taken to a hospital." I read aloud.

"Yeah. I heard the patients of the hospitals were being moved to Atlanta as well," Dad said.

We soon found ourselves on the highway to Atlanta. It was a traffic jam. At least a thousand vehicles were lined up to get into the city.

"Let's get out and find out what's happening." Mom ordered.

We left the car and walked down the highway. We saw a boy and a girl that were my age and a woman with a short haircut and a man who smoked beside the car. As my parents and brother talked to the woman and man; I talked to the kids.

"Your dad is nice," The girl commented a man who was with the boys mother.

"Shane's not my dad. My dads dead," Carl pointed out.

"Oh." The girl said shamefully.

"What's your names?" I ask them, interrupting their conversation.

"I'm Carl. This is Sophia," The boy said.

"What about you?" Sophia asked.

"I'm Emily." I introduce myself.

"I'm hungry..." Carl complained.

"I'll get you something." The woman, Sophia's mother, said.

"We will be really grateful if you did." Carl mother said.
