Alex and Lyne just sat there in the dark. Lyne tightly holding his hand. Alex had never seen Lyne this way. So broken and scared. He had always known Lyne for the badass person she was, and even when she was the weakest, she was stronger than the rest. What had happened to Lyne? What was the discussion between her mom and her? What did her mom even say?

Alex was curious and worried, but he did not ask. He didn't want to piss Lyne off.

After sometime, he checked it was almost 10. He rushed her up, and took her back to her place.

Even though Lyne never had a key to her place, Alex did. Slowly opening the door, Alex took Lyne up to her room, and sat her down on the bed. He looked around. Gave her a glass of water, and sat down beside her.

Lyne's mom had no problem with Alex being with her all the time, infact she felt relieved to know that Lyne had someone. For after all that had happened to her, and her father, her mom was really worried.

She had made Lyne into a great person and then seen her get broken due to another man's fault, and then she saw her rebuild herself. She felt proud at times seeing the kind of person Lyne had become, that  even after all this, she was still strong and smiling.

Alex took Lyne down to the dinner table. He told her to eat something. Lyne just stared at his face. Not a single word came out of her mouth. Soon Lyne's mother came in with the food. Lyne turned her face away from her.

This was weird, out of all the people in this world, her mother was the one person Lyne always looked up to, but why would she do this, now? Alex was confused.

Though Lyne's mother asked Alex to stay for dinner, he said that he had to get home early , and left.

Leaving the stage to the mother and daughter.

Lyne's mother sat down facing her. They both ate for a while without talking.

Until her mother said,

'You know we don't have a choice, do you actually think I want you to go?'

'But why not fight him? For 16 years he did nothing, just nothing, now he doesn't have the right to screw with my life!' Lyne screamed.

'But he filed a legal order deary, how are we supposed to fight that?' mother spoke.

'We can get a lawyer?' Lyne said.

'Do you even know how much a getting a lawyer would cost? I don't have that much money', there was helplessness in mother's voice now.

'And your father, he's rich and wicked, he will drag this case if it goes up to the court, and even if I combine all my resourced you know I wouldn't be able to pull it up. If we bring one lawyer, he'll consult 10! Now tell me how will we be able to defeat him?', mother stopped.

Lyne kept silent. This time her eyes were wet. Lyne had never cried, in years. But tonight, she did.

That time when she felt that all her troubles where over. She had not cut for 8 months, had a perfect friend beside her, that moment when she felt that everything was falling into place, her whole life actually fell into pieces. Shattering every single hope and dream she had. Everything that she had called 'mine' was being taken away from her, her mom, Alex, her whole goddamn life, yet again for that one wretched man. Her father.

There was a reason he was in town , and it wasn't repentance or anything, it was to fuck Lyne and her mother's lives a bit more. He had made a legal order for Lyne's custody and the notice was sent to her mother, according to which Lyne was supposed to stay with her father. They could have fought it, but Lyne's mother was just a teacher, she couldn't possibly afford it.

All these thought raving her mind, Lyne searched through her drawer for that thing. A cold, steel blade. Her childhood friend. Having found it at last, she placed it close to her arms and then her thighs. Not forcefully enough to kill herself, but powerful enough to make her bleed.

And there she was, a lovely 16 year old, sitting with a cold steel blade, thinking about whether to go deeper or not.
A little bit deeper? Or not?
