We sat there a little longer and I couldn't for the life of me find any words to say, soon though everyone got uneasy and stood to stretch,

"It's getting late huh?" Trey said trying to sound casual and failed but I nodded,

"Yeah you guys should get going," I said feeling tired, Jem shook his head,

"It's Friday so I don't have work tomorrow. Jeremy do you mind driving back home?" Jeremy shrugged,

"Nope, uh, Celine I'll see you Monday alright? Are you going to school,"

"No, she doesn-" I cut Cynthia off,

"Yes...I'm going to school. I've already missed the first week, I don't need to miss anymore," Jeremy nodded and was about to hug me when Jem growled,

"I'll see you later," Is what he said instead,

"Yeah, we'll see you at school okay?" Troy said, and I smiled at him to the best of my abilities. When they left Jake and Cynthia said good night to me and Jem and went up to their rooms.

While Cynthia was walking away I caught her winking at Jem and I suddenly felt jealous,

"She's married," I said before I could stop myself, then I felt my cheeks burn up. Jem half smiled and looked at me questioningly,

"I know she is, why did you bring it up?" I shook my head,

"No reason," I said after clearing my throat but he gave me a look that said he knew why,

"Jealous huh?" He said with a cocky smile. Anger flared inside me and I snapped back,

"Like you're not?" He put his hands up in a surrendering fashion,

"Alright, alright, I'll admit it if you admit," I folded my arms over my chest and looked at the ground,

"No," I said firmly and he chuckled,

"Than I don't get jealous either," I looked at him with a look that said 'What ever helps you sleep at night' and he chuckled again, "Okay, so I get jealous," I smiled proudly then thought about it,

"Why?" I asked dumbly but he just shrugged,

"Well, you're my mate and all, so I don't suppose I'd be happy that other guys are hugging you," I must have had a pretty confused look on my face because Jem smiled widely, "I'll explain it tomorrow alright?" I shrugged, "You didn't exactly get to eat supper, do you want me to make you something?" I shook my head,

"No, it's okay, actually I was planning on heading for bed," He nodded understandingly,

"Yeah, getting all that information crammed in your head must have worn you out," I faked a chuckle,

"Yeah, especially when I get info like, 'You're going to die soon,'," Jem grabbed my arm firmly and looked me dead in the eye,

"Honestly Celine, I don't care what you choose. No matter what, I'm going to change you, even if you hate me for it in the end," I didn't know how to respond so I just tore my arm from his hand and nearly ran to my room.

That was scary. He looked dead serious and it scared the hell out of me. But there was something in his eyes, rage, yes, seriousness, yes, but something else. Maybe sadness? Passion? Maybe even love? No, I'm just really tired and need to get to sleep.

When I woke the next morning I smelt bacon and orange juice, maybe last night was all just a dream, then my door was thrust open. Standing there holding breakfast was Jem. So much for that whole just a dream thing,

"I brought happiness on a plate," He beamed and I sat up,

"Bacon?" I asked rubbing sleep from my eyes,
