We all sat there enjoying the breeze that ran its fingers through our fur and watched as the sun rose slowly but surely. Then a smell hit my nose that made me stand quickly,
"What is it?" Jem asked through the pack link,
"You don't smell that?" I asked everyone and they all shook their heads, "I don't know what it is..I mean I can't put my finger on it...wait-"
"Rouges" Jem growled and the others quickly rose. Ah yes, that's where I knew the smell from, when I was attacked I smelled the rouge but it was much stronger now to my sensitive nose,
"Can you sniff out how many there are?" Jake asked me in my head and I tried closing my eyes and sniffing them out. There was definitely more than one. I inhaled again but it was no use. My nose may be better than theirs but I can't do it, "Try hearing," he said when I shook my head. I nodded and listened closely.
At first all I could hear was my pack's even heart beats but then I heard the trees swaying in the breeze, then branches snapping and I felt my ears twitch. I focused more and slowed my breathing. That's when I heard their paws hitting the earth as they ran this way,
"I can hear them," I announced and Jem looked at me surprised and shut his eyes then opened them again,
"I can't," he said but I ignored him. I could hear them perfectly now and with my eyes closed I could practically see them. There was 1....4....7. There was 7 rouges headed our way.
"Seven," I said opening my eyes and everyone looked at me,
"Are you sure?" Roger asked, and I nodded,
"There are seven of them but there's someone else," I added when the scent hit me, "It smells like...lavender and rain," I said trying to focus on that smell only and an image flashed through my head of a woman running with the seven rouges, she was incredibly fast, "She's a woman...but she's keeping up with them," I said turning to look behind me.
I saw all of them bare their teeth and growl toward the area the wolves would emerge from then it clicked,
"She's a vampire," I whispered more to myself but Jem heard me through our mate bond and he walked up to me and we faced the trees,
"Stay by my side," He growled and I inched closer to him. That's when the pack got uneasy, "We can smell them now," Jem cleared for me and I sighed. This isn't going to be good.
We stood our ground and waited for the group of trespassers to show themselves and when the first rouge jumped out of the trees my pack was ready to jump him but I snapped at one of the girl's that hung out with Jeremy and she whimpered before stepping back,
"Wait," I ordered and everyone took a step back. The one rouge in front of us looked to be trembling and I snarled, "He's a runt, they sent him out first to jump who ever gets to him first," I said, which surprised me but I know I was right,
"She's right," Roger confirmed as he stood to my left.
I watched the rouge closely, he was smaller than me and younger. He looked at us with uncertainty before howling. When he did the rest of the rouges walked out slowly, followed by the vampire. She had bright blond hair and with the little bit if sun light reflecting off of it, it made me want to squint. Her skin was the palest shade of white I had ever seen, but it was her smile that made me uneasy. Even though she was standing at a football fields length away from me I could see her evil little smirk.
