Chapter 23

Rains POV:

'This is it... Let's go Gemma... Don't kill anyone...' I thought as it was now Gemma's turn to face Zalgo. She was held last for... Many reasons. She got into her stance and he stood there like he owned the place... What an asshat. Then, it begun. She started throwing her knives and he dodging them all. Zalgo started to grow taller and taller, suddenly gross tenticals started to come out from his back, slimy and distorted. Gemma summoned her sword and started to attack back. Slicing and cutting off the nasty appendages. Grunts and groans coming from both. Gemma screamed out, growing impatient. She summoned her sword and started attacking him up close.
"Come one you bastard! Fight me for real!" She stabbed his leg and he howled in pain. She smirked. He shrunk down to about slenders height and started attacking.

-Hours later-

Gemma was panting heavily, covered in her and his blood. "Fucking bastard! I'm not done with you yet!" She growled fiercely. Her voice deep and demonic sounding.
"Oh? But I'm done with you." He spat. He turned and walked away,
"I don't want any of these proxies, I'll be coming back in a year, goodbye everyone." He said and vanished. Gemma was panting still, her body trembling. Her eyes rolled to the back of her head and she fell forwards.
"Gemma!" Toby hollered and ran up to her. He caught her before she hit the ground. Her chest heaving.
"Lets get her to the infirmary and get her cleaned up." I said and me and Toby hauled her all the way to the infirmary. There Dr. Smiley started to treat her wounds.
"This is too much for her, she says she's tough but her health says other wise. She was never the one to be in perfect health." I sighed and watched Smiley wrap and stitch her up.
"I know what you mean, I'm the same way, but I've never been to the infirmary so many times after getting here..." Toby sighed and gripped his arm tightly.
"Its okay Toby..." I patted his shoulder. We waited a couple minutes and Eyeless Jack walked in to check up on us.
"How is she doing?" He asked making a head geasture towards her.
"We don't know... She hasn't done anything since Smiley finished. She must be extremely exhausted..." Toby sighed.
"I really hope she's okay..." He whispered.
"She's been through worse remember..? She's been in a coma for weeks, remember?" Jack said.
"She'll be absolutely fine." He squeezed his shoulder.
"I'm going wait with everyone else in the living room." He said and ruffled my hair.
"Okay..." I said. Me and Toby stayed in the room longer. After an hour or two Gemma started to groan. We quickly got up and checked on her,
"Thank God you aren't dead." I smiled.
"Wish I was..." She looked up at us and smirked,
"Fuck I did fine out there." We stared at her in shock then burst out laughing,
"How can you crack jokes at a time like this?! You're such an idiot!" I slapped Toby on the back, He was laughing as well,
"How can we laugh at a moment like this?!" He asked wiping his face, trying to calm down.
"We're all idiots." Gemma laughed lightly. She looked around,
"This place again..? God I'm getting sick of it here." She sighed.
"My body aches, it kinda feels good." She smirked.
"You don't have much sanity left in you, I'm not surprised you like it." I said and stared down at her. She frowned,
"Are you okay?" She asked me.
"Yeah, I'm just worried for you." I sat on the bed.
"Me too..." Toby interjected.
"I'm fine guys really." She smiled softly.
"You two shouldn't worry, I perfectly fine, I'm more worried of you Rain, you got knocked down pretty roughly." She said.
"I just bruised my ass. Nothing too bad." I smiled.
"That's good." She sighed and leaned back.

Later that day me and Toby helped Gemma out of her bed and she walked around cracking her bones.
"This feels better." She smiled widely. She walked around,
"Lets go out so everyone knows you're alright." Toby said leading her out.

I sighed and watched them leave. I soon followed. Everyone was happy to see her alive. Everyone talking and laughing like nothing happened. I watched from afar until I noticed Jack walking up to me. I smiled softly and waved slightly. He leaned against the wall that I was also leaning against.
"What are you doing all alone?" He asked. I chuckled.
"Already saw her, I know she's alive and well..." I trailed off and stared at the floor.
"What's wrong?" He asked me, staring down at me, or I think.
"She's the only one being affected by him, why does he want to corrupt her so much? Does he have a plan or is he doing it for fun and games?" I gripped my arms tightly.
"Knowing Zalgo, he probably has a plan... He never does something out of fun and games. He's a sadistic bastard like that." He growled.
"Whatever he's planning, it's not gonna work. Gemma is strong and knows what to do." I said, placing my arms at my sides. Ej grabbed my hand tightly.
"I know. She won't let anything take her from us." He said reassuringly. I smiled softly and squeezed his hand back,
"You're right." I looked at them and watched Gemma and everyone else.
"Rain?" He called.
"What is it?" I turned to look at him, his mask was tilted upwards slightly and he leaned in and kissed me softly. My eyes widened in shock. Everyone in the room had a clear shot of this and started whistling and clapping. I was blushing madly once he pulled away. I looked down, out fingers still intertwined. I smiled softly,
"I was beginning to wonder when you'd make your move." I let out a giggle and leaned my head on his shoulder.
"This seemed like a perfect time." He chuckled, I nodded my head in agreement.

Soon everyone was doing their own thing, Gemma and Toby in their room and Me and Jack in my room. We were laying on my bed, not cuddling more like holding each other. He was sitting against my head board and I had my head on his lap reading a book, reading it to him. His hand stroked my hair, I smiled widely, he sure does know a girls weakness. I laughed lightly and shook my head.
"What's funny?" He asked looking down at me.
"No, nothing." I giggled and stared up at him.
"Well it must be something, it's got you laughing." He said in a playful tone. I smirked.
"Its really nothing, just a thought." I placed the book down on my stomach.
"Tell me your thought." He chuckled.
"No." I smirked widely. I closed the book and stared up at him.
"Why not?" He asked. I could hear amusement in his voice.
"Because its a secret." I rolled off his lap and sat in front of his feet. "Well, don't we tell each other stuff now since we're dating?" He countered.
"Yes, but this is just funny and you won't like it." I lied and teased.
"You don't know that." He reached down and grabbed me pulling me close to his face. I smirked widely and licked his cheek,
"Still not tellin'." I giggled and pushed away from him.
"I'm gonna sleep now." I said and closed my eyes softly.
"You're so mean to me." I could hear his pout. I giggled,
"All I was thinking is that you treat women better then I thought you would." I said and opened one eye to look at him.
"What's wrong with that? Women do more for us men than any other creature. They carry children, they sometimes cook better than men. And, they're more beautiful and delicate."
"You kill people for a living." I intervened.
"Yeah, that's the fun part, I also get to kill." He chuckled lowly.
"You're a weirdo." I snorted and closed my eyes again.
"Only yours." He said and turned off the light. He laid down behind me and pulled me into his chest.
"Good night Rain, sweet dreams." I heard him say right before I fell asleep.

Gemma's POV:

I turned my head, cracking it. "Ahhh, so nice." I smile and fall into my comfy bed.
"Today was really stressful..." Toby sighs. I look at him
"When isn't it a stressful day?" I ask.
He nodded and then came and laid down next to me, pulling me into his chest.
"I'm just happy you are safe and alive. You two fought for a really long time, I thought you'd pass out through half of it. Since, Zalgo, doesn't tire easy." He said stroking my hair.
I chuckled and nodded my head. "Yeah, but I got through it. I'm done with it. I just want to sleep and wish this day away." I sighed.
"I know let's get some sleep." He said and he still softly stroked My hair. I nodded slowly and then soon my eyes became heavy.
"I won't let anyone hurt you anymore." Toby whispered and pulled me closer to his body. I smiled and nodded my head slowly. I fell asleep, into a deep dark sleep.
