Olivia's POV:
I woke up really late on the day of my 18th birthday, it was a well deserved lie-in! My best friend had died the week before, it was weird seeing everyone pass away around me, Mum just said that 'it feels like you live forever' and she was 100% correct, it seemed like I had lived for ages!
Today was by far the most exciting day for me, I was allowed to go wherever I wanted, or I thought I could, anyways,
"Good morining, darling, you ready?" Mum had a huge smile on her face as she stepped through the door, I returned the grin.
"Yes! Yes! Mum I'm so excited! I just wish... Jodie could be here today..." Jodie was the friend who sadly passed away last night, mum sighed and pulled me in for a hug.
"I know, it's horrible. But don't let this ruin your birthday..."
"Don't worry, it won't. Well, off I go!" I ran into my wardrobe and brought out my suit case, mum looked awfully confused,
"W-what's this? I thought you wanted to go to the woods!"
"Oh... Well I was going to Hawaii, where you and Dad met- where you 'zinged'. But I guess I could go to the woods..." This was a bit of a downer, but the woods was still somewhere I'd wanted to go for a long time. I gave Mum a big hug and headed out.

When I reached the edge of the town, my stomach churned, it wasn't how I'd expected it... But I stood tall and headed in. It was so dark I could hardly see anything and my eyes weren't adjusting to the darkness at all, I couldn't see the exit and therefore headed forward. I felt completely lost and blind, that's when I bumped into something which caused me to fall backwards into the wet grass,
"Ow! Watch where you-... Wait, what're you doing here?" It was a girl's voice but all I saw was a sillouhette of a bat, I thought I was going crazy.
Suddenly, a bright light shone through the whole woods, it wasn't the sun, just a huge, illuminus glow. I looked up and saw a young woman- around my age, black hair and beautiful blue eyes.
"C'mon, let's get outta here." She was very confident in the way she talked, unlike me,
"Y-yeah. I-I can show you the t-town. I live there." She gasped in amazement,
"You're a human! You live in the town!" I then understood why she was so amazed, she was a vampire, something I, surprisingly, wasn't afraid of at all.
"Erm... Yeah.I'm Olivia, by the way."
"Mavis." We chatted through the whole walk back, neither of us knew what the light was, but we were thankful for it.

I wasn't looking where I was going and felt something crack beneath my feet. I glanced down and saw the remains of a monster!
I screamed and jumped back as Mavis inquisitively examined it,
"I've seen this monster somewhere before..."
