Chapter 26: goodbyes

Today was Ella and Simon's funeral. I was wearing all black. Tears that were streaming down their faces made my heart sank even more. I didn't want to go today. But for the two people I loved I did. Ella was my best friend. She always was. She never changed. But Bryan, well I didn't expect him to go this far.

Simon was a good person. He understood me. He never did anything wrong to anyone. He was caring and loyal. He didn't deserve this. And why do I keep feeling, that should be me

Niall was on my side protectively as I looked into his coffin revealing his now lifeless body. I can't help but notice the faces of everyone here. They were all crying. No one wanted this. And out of all days it had to happen on my 18th birthday.

Zayn was crying too, he had a short time with his cousin. It was on short notice. And I can't help but feel that it's all my fault. If I hadn't put up that contest Ella and Bryan wouldn't have went to my party.

I watched as thick dirt was slowly covering their coffins as I broke down on my knees motionless and breathless. I read the two temporary tombstones as Niall put his head close to mine comfortably as he rubbed my shoulder.

I stood up from my grief and hugged Niall tightly and buried my head into his shoulder crying. If you're wondering me and Niall aren't together. I wasn't ready to risk anything again and I have to wait

But I'm happy and I love him
