Quinn barely had time to respond with her own greeting towards Tommy before she noted that Nessie began to pop her knuckles and the sides of her neck—and took a deep breath of air before she began to head towards the hatch. Nita peered at her best friend with frightened mint irises, at the thought of knowing that now was the time that she would have to finish her friendship with her best friend.

"Alright, so Todd or whatever your name is, come help me carry the fish tanks out onto the beach so that we can throw them out into the ocean," Nessie instructed, as though she was merely talking about throwing items into the ocean and not two people. Nita glared at the blonde haired girl before she reached forward and grabbed one of Quinn's hands—giving it a squeeze, Quinn knew that it was the only thing that was keeping Nita calm.

"My name is Tommy, and maybe if you asked politely next time"—Tommy was interrupted by Nessie, who snorted and rolled her eyes, before she reached forward and grabbed the end of Quinn's fish tank before she began to pull the fish tank of out of the van as though there was nothing more than boxes full of keep sake items.

Quinn felt her heart accelerate in her chest as Tommy gave a look towards his sister, and Nita nodded her head before she moved away and let her hand drop from Quinn's. She wrapped her arms around her waist and moved out of the way that they were going to take onto the beach, her eyes brimming with newborn tears. The wild winds that whipped throughout the air tugged at her brown curls, falling in front of her face and brushing against her cheekbones.

"Everything is going to be okay," Quinn reassured her best friend and reached her hand out to pat her on the shoulder blade as Tommy managed to grab the other end of the fish tank after he climbed into the van and grabbed it. Her head was back against his chest and although the fourteen year old version of Quinn would have blushed hastily at the contact, the eighteen year old version of her merely acknowledged her head against his chest.

"Don't worry about it, Nita," Tommy chimed in, earning a glare from his sister that let him know that he didn't need to be telling her that everything was going to be okay since she wasn't his best friend since practically they were in diapers.

He flickered his eyes away from her and cleared his throat before he climbed out of the back of the van with his hands clasped tightly against the fish tank. The water within the fish tank was ice cold now, and it sloshed a little—and Quinn could feel her scales almost glow brighter at the feeling of the salt air that was around her. It was almost as though the mermaid within her was acknowledging the fact that she was about to be in her true home...the ocean.

"Move faster, Todd," Nessie hissed as he walked backwards onto the beach—her eyes glaring at him with more hatred than there was. Quinn couldn't help but roll her eyes, with the knowledge that Nessie had a reputation to keep up, and that being rude to everyone was supposed to be natural to her.

"How can you put up with her? And what was John drinking when he was making out with her?" Tommy questioned to Quinn, who couldn't help but snicker some, knowing that he was just wanting to get more on her bad side.

Nessie simply loosened her hold on the fish tank, which in return made more pressure and weight land on Tommy's side. He easily took up the weight though, since he was the son of Coach Belts and had carried heavy items to and from football practice as soon as he was old enough and strong enough to. He smirked slightly at Nessie, who in return huffed and blew some of her fallen bangs out of her face and took the weight again.

"We merely tolerate her, nothing more, and nothing less," Nita chirped up, as she stood on the side of the fish tank, next to Quinn, and held a flash light in her hand. She had just discovered it in the glove compartment of her brother's truck. She thought it would help so that they wouldn't accidently fall into man made holes that children and ocean lovers created during the daytime and sometimes nighttime.
