Amelia's POV:
Drew pulled me close to him, causing Jess to gasp. I completely forgot she was standing there, but a part of me was happy she was. This possessive nature I have adopted since earlier today with Drew fumed with jealousy of every female within 10 feet of him. It kind of freaked me out.
I was so wrapped up in my thoughts, I didn't notice Drew already leading me to his car. It was a beautiful black Boss 429 Mustang. Drew opened the door for me, and patiently waited until I was completely inside before shutting the door, and walked around the car to get in. "Such a gentlemen!" I exclaimed, once Drew was settled, which earned me a blush from him. He didn't say much through the car ride, but he turned on the radio. "Tee Shirt" by Birdy began to fill my ears. I love this song!
I softly began singing along like it was second nature. I wasn't paying attention, but the car had stopped at some point. The song was over, and I figured we had arrived to wherever he had planned for tonight. I turned to look at Drew, and he was just staring at me. I blushed, "Sorry you had to listen to that." I chuckled under my breath. My heart and my breath left my chest when he reached over to push a lock of hair away from face, then he dragged his index finger across my cheek, then down my jaw bone. I looked up to see his eyes searching my face. And then..
Drew turned away, unbuckling his seat beat, "You are full of surprises, aren't you?" It wasn't really a question he was asking me. It was more to himself if anything. He let me out of the car, and we walked to the restaurant. It was a really nice place, white table cloths, nice silverware, ambient lighting, and posh-looking customers and employees. "We have a reservation under 'Wilson'?" Drew told the hostess. She glanced at the list in front of her, and gave him a friendly smile. "Right this way, Mr. Wilson."
The table we were seated at was excluded from the rest of the restaurant, in a whole other room entirely. Once we were seated, we glanced at the menus placed in front of us. I felt myself freeze. There was no prices listed next to the entrees. "Drew, this is too much." He rose an eyebrow in confusion. "What do you mean?" "I mean this place looks really expensive! You didn't have to take me here." He just laughed at my nervousness.
"It's a special day. I wanted to take you to a special place." He reached over the table, taking my hand in his own, intertwining our fingers. He seemed hesitant for a moment, but just before he was about to say something, the waitress approached us, interrupting his train of thought. "Hi, folks. My name is Jane. I'll be your server for the evening. What can I start you off to drink?" She readied her pen and paper, jotting down our order.
After that, Drew and I talked for hours, laughing and enjoying each other's company. At some point, we began talking about the mate bond. I asked him about some of the highlights and the lows about having a mate. "Well, as you may know, there are the sparks," he rubbed his thumb on my hand, shooting little lightning bolts. "There's this thing with your mates scent that usually calms you, sometimes it fills you with passion.." Then his eyes looked down at my lips, then back to my eyes. "Although, there is this thing about the female that some of the she-wolves complain about.."
"And what would that be?" He shugged. "If the mates.. well... Mate within a certain amount of time, the female goes into this state called 'heat'. It's when she is most venerable and doesn't really think clearly." He tried to explain as lightly as he could. I scrunched my eyebrows together,"Mate meaning.." He nodded his head as if he knew what I was suggesting.
The color in my cheeks deepened. "Oh.." I muttered under my breath. He meant... intimately. "Don't worry.. I'm not expecting anything from you. We can wait to even think about those things until you're ready." I sighed in relief.
When we finished eating, Drew said he didn't want to go home just yet, and he had an idea of where to go next. We returned to his beautiful car, and we were off, again, to the mystery location.
