It was finally the last concert for the whole tour.
Nick loved the other guys but he couldn't wait to get away from them. Of course after a while, they'd reunite to do another album and do another world tour. But for now, Nick just wanted a break.
"A break from Kevin" Nick thought.
Nick felt like crying again. He loved Kevin, but Kevin didn't deserve it. Kevin was an asshole.
"I'm gonna sleep this off" Nick thought to himself.
A tear fell down Nick's cheek as he closed his eyes and drifted to sleep.

"What was Nick doing?"
That was the only thought wrapped around Kevin's head. Kevin felt Nick's sadness and he was going crazy. He had hurt Nick, he'd apologize but Nick wouldn't take him back.
It would be another year or two until he saw Nick again, and that would be in preparation for the next tour.
"I'm not going down without a fight" Kevin said to himself.
Kevin got out of his hotel room and made his way to rehearsals. He was the first one there. He wasn't surprised. The concert was at 9 pm and it was still 10 am. The boys would probably get here at around 5 or 6 pm.
"Good" He thought, he would be able to practice alone and without anyone asking what he's doing and why he's doing it.
He sat down on his piano and smoothed his fingers on the keys "It's time to finally fight for Nick"

It was finally concert time and Nick was feeling pumped. He'd avoided Kevin during soundcheck. Kevin said that he'd be covering a song later on, or something like that. Nick didn't listen to whatever Kevin had to say. Any conversation with Kevin's name, he had learned to block them all out.
Nick was jumping around, perfectly hitting his high-notes and the crowd just kept roaring louder and louder. This is what Nick lived for. Tour life was tiring, but he lived to perform and he lived to make others happy.
Nick looked over to Kevin and they made eye contact. Kevin just smiled at him, and Nick looked away.
"Only a few more songs Nick, then the tour is over and you won't have to see that man for a long long time" Nick thought and thinking that just pumped him even more.

"THAT MAKES YOU LARGER THAN LIFE" Nick belted out the lyrics to the last song of the night. He interacted with the crowd for a little bit and he retreated backstage along with the other guys.
"Where's Kevin?" Howie asked.
Kevin was still on stage, which wasn't odd but he was sitting on his piano. Nick just stared at the older man trying to figure out what he was doing.

Kevin sat down on his piano.
"This is it, what happens after this will make or break me" Kevin thought.
"Why hello everyone" Kevin spoke on the microphone, he wanted to sound strong and confident, but he knew his voice was shaking.
"I know that Larger Than Life is usually the last song we sing at every concert, but I wanted to switch it up a bit"
The crowd roared.
"I thought that since it's the last concert for the tour, I thought I'd do something really special for y'all and cover a song"
The crowd was going mad at this point.
"So this song, is by a band that you all may know, they're called New Kids On The Block, and I'm dedicating this song to the love of my life, I kind of fucked up and did something wrong. I vowed to myself that I'd do whatever it takes to be forgiven. I am not good at expressing what I feel, so I hope that you, N, wherever you're listening right now, I hope that this at least gives you an idea about how I feel about you"
"Awwwwwwwww" The crowd simultaneously screamed and Kevin started to play.

Was Nick dreaming?
He was, he was dreaming.
But this definitely didn't feel like a dream.
He looked at the other 3 boys and they were all as shocked as him.
"HOLY SHIT YOU GUYS, KEV FOUND HIMSELF A GIRL" AJ yelled
Nick wanted to say something, but he decided against it. Instead he closed his eyes and let the sound of Kevin's voice fill his ears and his heart.

Kevin tried resisting, but he failed, a tear finally made its way down to his cheek.

Kevin was about to bawl there and then, so he decided to end the song.

Kevin was now full on crying, he wiped his tears, took a breath and said "I love you, I always have, I'm sorry, please give me a second chance, I promise I will do anything and everything. You don't have to immediately forgive me. Just a promise that you'd someday take me back is all I can and will ever hope for. A fighting chance, that is all I need.
"Thank you everyone" Kevin took his final bow "I hope you all enjoyed" Kevin took one last look at the crowd before he made his way backstage.

Nick didn't know what to think or say.
"Better think fast" He thought. He was blown away, moved even. He wanted to tell Kevin yes. But he was scared. Scared to get hurt, scared to get rejected and most of all, scared of letting someone into his heart. It's been caged for so long and it has welcomed no visitors. Would he be able to open up his heart to Kevin? And do something he vowed never to do again which was make himself vulnerable?
"Better make up your mind Nick, he's coming this way" He thought again.
