Draco stepped away from the wall entering into platform 9 3/4. He glanced around in disgust at all witches and wizards hurrying around, saying their goodbyes to their children and ushering them onto the train. Draco held his head high, pushed his shoulders back and swaggered forward to the scarlet train. He stepped into it and crashed straight into the one and only Hermione Granger. He sniffed indignantly at her. He tried to call her a mudblood, his way of a greeting, however nothing escaped his mouth. He breathed in and tried again but it still didn't work. Draco noticed the slight confusion on her face at his obvious difficultly with something. "Granger" He sneered instead and walked off his brows furrowed together slightly. He soon found Blaises compartment and walked in, ignoring his friends questioning look and focusing out the window as they began to move.

At breakfast the following day Draco grimaced as a sharp pain coursed through his body. He clenched his teeth together, trying to hide his discomfort. Blaise raised a dark eyebrow and nudged him. "Whats up mate?" He muttered eyeing his friend. Draco merely shook his head and stood up and pointedly pushed his chair backwards, strutting out the Great Hall to his first lesson, potions. Half way through the lesson he lurched forward clutching his stomach as the pain surged through his veins, much worse then at breakfast. Draco looked up, trying to hide the pain while making sure no one saw him give up his superior act. He let out a sigh he hadn't realized he had been holding when he was sure no one had seen it. However his sigh stopped abruptly as his eyes caught one anothers. Granger. She was concerned. He sneered at her. Always the sympathetic one. Always too caring for her own good. He had barely finished his thought when he felt the pain again, worse then the two combined. He collapsed and the last thing he saw were two large brown eyes looking down at him, and then The Professors cloak as he shielded Draco from every ones view. "Take him to Madame Promfrey Zabini" He ordered, his voice stone cold, void of any emotion.

Hermione gathered all her books and parchment as soon as they were dismissed and walked briskly to the Hospital wing. She couldn't understand why she suddenly had the urge to go and check on Malfoy. He had been her enemy for the past 6 years. Maybe it was the fact they were sharing dorms since she had been appointed Head girl, and he, unfortunately, was Head boy. By the rules, Head Girl and Boy must share dorms for the course of the year and she didn't want to be looking after him for most of it. She decided that was the reason. She reached the the Hospital Wing and stopped in her tracks when she saw who was there. Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy. She shivered before regaining postured and hurrying behind a curtain to listen in. Why where his parents there? it couldn't be that bad, could it? Maybe he was dying. She shook her head. No! No matter how horrible the person. No body deserves to die. Well, maybe You-Know-Who. She thought to herself. She wasn't the person to eaves drop but again, she didn't want to be looking after him and she wanted to know why his parents where there. They began to talk in hushed voices. "But Lucius. We must tell Draco. We have waited long enough, it's becoming dangerous now. He can't go any longer without knowing. He has already got the pain. Draco must find her before the end of the year. His life is in danger. We must tell him Lucius. We must tell him he is a--" But what he was Hermione didn't know because the curtain was swept back and the faces of Ron and Harry were looking at her. "Hermione there you are! We were worried when you ran out of Potions like that! Come on, we need to get to Transfiguration." They dragged her away despite her half hearted protests. She was going to find out what secret Draco had.

It was a few days later and Hermione was trying to study. "Harry I told you, I need to finish my potions essay!" Hermione explained for the fourth time as he tried to convince her to play chess with him since Ron was in detention. Harry sighed. "Fine. After your essay then." Hermione rolled her eyes. She didn't even like chess. As logical as she was, she couldn't grasp the concept of it, in other words, she wasn't good at it. "Alright, fine. I give in. I need to go to the library to get a few books, I'll be back soon enough" She replied somewhat tiredly, standing up and heading out of the Gryffindor common room where she spent most of her time now Malfoy was out of the Hospital wing. She couldn't stand being in his presence. Granted, he seemed to be better then last year, he hadn't called her a mudblood once. However he continued to insult her, even if they weren't as hurtful as the previous years. Hermione reached the library and headed straight to the section she was looking for. She picked two books she thought would be most useful and started to leave, before a large book caught her eye. She took it out and read the cover. Magical Creatures Native to Bulgaria. She hadn't read about creatures from there before and thought it would do her no harm to do so. She felt as if there was a certain pull drawing her in coming from the book. Once again she was stopped before leaving, remembering she had a Transfiguration final coming up and it wouldn't help if she didn't have any books. She quickly found one she wanted but saw it was too high for her. She began to take her wand out of her pocket before a figure blocked her view and handed her the book. She glanced at the book before the person and had to stifle a gasp, however a frown made it onto her features. "Malfoy?" She said. "Me, Granger." He said with a smirk. He looked down to the other books in her hand. The smirk faded from his face when he saw the Magical Creatures book. "If you know what's good for you, you'd keep your curiosities to a minimum." He spoke, patting the book before swaggering off and wondering where that small act of kindness came from. Hermione stood still, dumbfounded. She took note of what she said, but decided against it. With the pull she had with the book and what he said, she came to a conclusion. She had to read it. Immediately.
