Some days I feel stuck, like life is a game, and I was never any good at games. As all games, I was failing. I wasn't the most popular, I wasn't the prettiest, and I definitely wasn't the smartest. Everyone has a purpose on earth--it just seemed that the messenger had been hit by a bus before I got the memo.

Some live their life in the shadow of others, trying to get out from beneath it. But not me, I was trying to find the shadow, I was trying to hide. I hid behind my fluffy hair, my over sized black outfits, and most or all my attitude. I was, more than anything, a shadow, a shadow of a person.

Don't get me wrong here, I had friends, maybe not a lot of friends, but I definitely had a small strong group. I guess, that was all that mattered, in the end, the only thing that matters is the small foundation of people that you know you can confide in entirely. The people who are true friends, the people that you can tell your darkest secret to and not have it spread like a sickness across the school. My heart was shared entirely with them, but yet, I kept parts of me hidden away.

In the end, it don't matter the shoes you wore, the hearts you broke, the people you back stabbed, the new hair cut you got, not even the marks. Life was the ultimate game, and like all games, they must come to an end.

The end of a card game doesn't scare us, why should death? It was the unknown that frightens people. The thought of your body lying in the ground, bugs swarming over your decaying flesh that you once obsessed over, the flesh that you dressed everyday and wished to look differently than you did.  That was the horror of it all. But, that wasn't what scared me, the unknown didn't even, it was it was the fact that what scared others, had little to no effect on me. I had emotions, sure, but my emotions excluded 'terror'. That was what scared me, the fact that nothing scared me.
