School had always seemed pointless, it seemed like we learned everything for nothing, and that the stuff we did need to know for life was so diluted that it didn't even sink in. If they just taught the stuff we NEEDED to know to live, and not pointless crap, we would all have to go to school for only half the amount of time. The sad thing is, things like algebra (that you will never need to do outside high school) take up a good portion of your average, and can easily lower it.
I thought of this as I looked down at my mark on my algebra test, (who's going to need to know a+b+6-8+4-3=c in there life time?) Like anyone is going to walk up to you on the street and ask "What is the square root of fifty-three?"
"Not so good?" Kim said, leaning over to my chair from her own behind me.
"Not so good at all." I replied, shaking my head and feeling a crack in my neck, and soon after hearing it.
"Gross." Megan said from beside me, and I glared at her. Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black? I wanted to say, but I hadn't had the time because the bell rang then, and I wasn't going to waste recess time because I wanted to get back at a Brown-Nosier like Megan.
I walked from class, and then herd Sam speak up from behind me. "Hey!" He said, and I turned to meet his gaze.
"Hey." I said back, and then hugged him gently. "Where have you been? I didn't see you yesterday hardly at all." I said pulling away from his embrace, he didn't seem to expect that and looked sheepish slightly. I didn't mean to make him feel bad for hugging me so long, be had hadn't needed to worry, I knew he was gay, and although no one said it, they all did to.
"Herd you were going to the party tonight?" He said out of the blue, and I guess he saw the look of emberissment on my face because me said, "so it's true." He smiled, "Dime and John sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G, first come love, then come-" He stopped because he couldn't keep a straight face any loner.
"It's not like that." I said, but I blushed, and that gave it away. I laughed, then asked, "are you going?" I wanted Sam there, he was always good at starting conversations, and that was my down fall.
"Yeah, actually." He looked surprised. "I got asked straight from the horses mouth."
"Amanda?" I said shocked, "she has never even talked to you before."
"No." He confessed, "but I said 'yes' because I knew you were going, and I wouldn't be alone." He smiled.
I smiled in return, "I don't know if I can go though." I diverted my eyes from his face, staring at my boots.
"Why?" He asked, letting the smile fall upside down.
"I can't find anything to wear!" I said, it had been on my mind since last night, and I had to say it out loud. There was nothing that could be done, but it felt good to talk about it with Sam. It's not like a beautiful dress would just appear on me like Cinderella.
"If you are willing to skip we could go to the mall now." He said, surprising me.
"Your parents will kill you if they find out." I said, knowing how strict they were, "Besides, I don't have enough." I frowned.
"My parents wont be home for two week because they are on their second honey moon, and have more then enough." I looked at him wide eyed, he was so nice! I couldn't take him up on his offer, but I really wanted to.
"No. I couldn't let you do that."
"I insist!" He said gripping my arm gently and pulling me down the hall.
"I couldn't!" I said, resisting slightly, but then giving in. "But I'm paying you back." I murmured.
"We'll see." He laughed, and I chimed in. We snuck out of the school quickly and into Sam's blue Corvette. It was a beautiful car, and I was almost scared to sit on the beautiful leather seat for fear of ruining it.
