Watching Natalie's expression turn to a look of stunned disbelief Derek couldn't help but smile. As soon as she had stepped into the dining room, it was obvious from Natalie's  face  that she couldn't wait to throw him out. But Derek outdid himself this time. It was a matter of pure chance and luck actually. Derek had come down this morning totally prepared to leave the town by the end of the day. But as it turned out luck was by his side.

Apparently every year Stone Isle had some kind of a carnival going on. It was a huge event where almost every family that lived in the town attended without fail. It went for about three days. Obviously it required a lot of planning and preparations. For the same reason, a council was appointed to look into the matter of careful planning so as to have the carnival run smoothly. The main council consisted of mostly the people who have been staying at Stone Isle for long. They then had various teams under them to handle the different aspects of the planning. From adults to children, everyone contributed in the arrangements.

And as it happened to be, Ruth was an integral part of the council. She had been since she was a teen herself. But this year her health might keep her from taking part in the ongoings. So she had asked Derek for his help. And this was where Derek came in. Derek couldn't help but smile. Yes, he had his office work to take care of. But a month couldn't hurt could it? Everyone did tell him that he had to take some time off from work. Well, now did seem a good time, didn't it? He could help Ruth with the arrangements. But more importantly, get to know Natalie Thompson a little more better...

Natalie was trying her best to appear calm. Even though she was coming apart from inside. ONE MONTH! She did not want to have Derek around here for another minute. It was bad for both of them. Did Derek not understand that. Then why would he....

And then it dawned on Natalie. Ohh! Derek wasn't here because he had grown some feelings for Natalie. He was here for just one purpose... to have another chance at her inn. God!! Could she be more stupid Natalie scolded herself. All this while she was  thinking that something was probably going on between them. But Derek was just playing her. He could fall to any level to get what he wanted. He had admitted that himself. No wonder he was grinning at her right now. Natalie was furious. Letting her feelings get in the way. She should have known better. She looked up at Derek. It took all her self control to not dump the hot coffee over the jerk's head!!

But Natalie smiled. The most sweetest smile that she could come up with. So much so that Derek was himself taken aback when he glanced at her. An amazing idea popped in her head. There was no way in hell Natalie would be giving up her inn. But she had to teach Derek Morgan a lesson. Natalie decided two could play this game.

This time Derek Morgan had messed with the wrong girl...!
