"Thanks for bringing by the grocery Jack...saved me a trip."she thanked Jack. Jack owned the supermarket on the other side of the town. She had been planning to go shopping for her inn supplies for quite sometime. But something or the other would would come up at the inn and she would have to postpone.
"Not a problem Nat. Just save me a few of those awesome cupcakes you bake and we'll call it even!"he grinned.
"You are welcome to them anytime Jack" she smiled at him.
"Alright then,I gotta leave now Nat. Say hi to Ruth from me. She hasn't returned from church yet,has she?" he inquired.
"No. Not yet. I don't know what's keeping her. We would usually be back by now. I couldn't drive her to church today because the breakfast orders were piling up and I had to stay back to help. I had asked her to go by herself for today." she frowned. What if Aunt Ruth was in trouble? She had been feeling a bit tired lately and Natalie had caught her drifting away in the middle of their conversations. It was not like her aunt at all and this morning Aunt Ruth been a bit pale. Natalie hadn't thought much about it then thinking it was the weather. Maybe she shouldn't have let her aunt go on her own.
"Ah..it must be nothing hon. She must be catching up on some town gossip and lost track of time. Don't worry yourself ok?" Jack said reassuringly.
"Yea...I guess you are right," Natalie shrugged. "Anyway come by soon for those cupcakes alright." she smiled. "Sure Nat. Thanks!" he kissed her cheek and left. Jack was a nice guy she thought. He was always sweet and caring.
She waved him goodbye at the door and walked back to the reception area. She checked the customer logs. The Wilsons were leaving today she thought. They had stayed at Stonehedge for the last one week. They were the last family to leave Stonehedge. The Wilsons were nice people. The family was from Manhattan. The couple were very sweet and so in love, even after so many years in marriage. Their kids, Mary and Matt, were lovely.
Just then the kids came running down the stairs. Both of them carrying their backpacks. "Hi Natalie!" they boomed at the bottom of the stairs. She had really grown fond of those kids in the past few days. She would definitely miss them.
"Hi there you guys. Packed and ready to go I see." she said to them.
"I'm gonna miss you Natalie" Mary said in a mournful voice. "Me too!" Matt joined her.
"Oh you guys! I'm gonna miss you more!" and she got down to her knees and hugged the two of them.
