After having driven through the town aimlessly for about an hour Derek finally stopped in front of a clothing store. It was the largest one he had seen in the town till now and he was sure he could pick up all necessary stuff he needed for his stay here. All he had packed were suits as he was sure it would be a very short trip. Since he would be extending his stay in Stone Isle for some more days he might as well make himself comfortable. The suits made him real hot and there was no way he could survive in them here. Derek parked his car in the parking space in front of the store and walked inside. Looking around the store he thought it was certainly not the expensive stores he was used to back in New York but it would do for now. There were not many people around at this hour. He saw one or two glance in his direction and stare at him. Derek caught a glimpse of his reflection on the glass door and decided that if he wanted to earn people's trust here then he gotta first start fitting in among them. So first stop was clothes!
After two hours Derek walked out of the store satisfied with everything he had purchased. The store wasn't that bad actually he thought. He had purchased some jeans and shorts and shirts to go with them. No more suits now. He ditched the bags in the back seat of the car and was about to get in the front when his phone rang.
"Hello darling!" Derek recognized the voice at the other end and was not happy. It was Stacy. His latest ex-girlfriend. He didn't know what she wanted from him now. "Hi Stacy" Derek replied curtly.
"How are you baby? I missed you so much! I'm pretty sure you missed me too. The diamond bracelet you gifted me is so beautiful. And just for that I forgive you. You know I love you so much right? I came by your office and that secretary of yours told me you're out on business. You should really fire her you know. She was really rude to me!" Stacy wailed. Derek pinched the bridge of his nose. He should have just let it go and not sent her any gift. Now she thought he wanted to get back with her. Stupid Derek, real stupid!
"Ah..Listen Stacy. I'm sorry but you have the wrong idea. The gift I sent you was a goodbye gift. I really had a good time with you but like I've told you before its time to end it. I'm really sorry." Derek sighed. The phone at the other end went silent for sometime.
"Its some other woman, isn't it?" Sophie said in a very calm voice. What? Derek thought. "You already screwing some other girl aren't you Derek? You son-of-a-bitch!" Stacy started yelling at the top of her lungs. "Listen to me Sophie..." Derek started to explain, but she cut him off. "No! You listen to me Derek Morgan! You belong to no one but me. If I can't have you then no one else WILL! You just remember that!" and with that she banged the phone.
Great! Like his life wasn't in enough shit already, he had to add a crazy ex-girlfriend to that list! He would do something about Stacy once he reached back home. He then called his secretary to check if everything was running smoothly at the workplace. Satisfied with the call, he got into the car and drove back to the inn. He checked his watch and realized that he would be late for lunch. Here he was in crap, dealing with his crazy ex-girlfriend and there inside the inn Natalie and her boyfriend must be having a really good time in each other's arms Derek thought. The thought for some reason made Derek uncomfortable and he floored the accelerator.
