"What are you talking about?" I called, my mood changing drastically.
"There's nothing. Nowhere. Just rainforest as far as the eye can see" he explained, dropping from the tree with a grunt as he landed.
"Fuck" I mumbled as I drug a tired hand down my face
"Can't Heimdall decide where we land?" Roy asked
"He used to until the Bifrost went haywire and now it's unpredictable where we land. The only thing Heimdall can control is what realm we go to" I explained.
"Go figure" he said sarcastically.
"Okay. We just need to think" I began.
"We need Aceleve. If she were here she'd be able to fly us out of here" Roy mentioned.
"We need Aceleve because she's smarter than both of us" I added.
"I guess we just need to ask what would Aceleve do"
"I supposed. But we already know what she would do. She would fly or teleport out of here" I added.
"Okay. Thinking like Aceleve is not a good plan" Roy declared. I pursed my lips and crossed my arms across my chest.
"Do you hear that?" Roy suddenly asked. I lifted my head and listened carefully
"What does running water and birds and insects have to do with anything?" I asked in frustration.
"Are you kidding? If we can get to the running water we can ride the creek with my magic until we find civilization" Roy explained
"Civilization? You said that there was nothing for miles"
"Right. But this river has to end at some point and if there were any civilians they would make camp where there is water. Besides, I don't see you coming up with anything" he argued. I sighed
"Fine"
"Good. Let's go" Roy commanded with a nod. We listened and followed our ears to the running water and stopped at the muddy bank. I watched as Roy stuck out his hand and froze two small blocks of ice
"Now what?" I asked
"Get on" he said calmly while stepping onto his own block. I carefully stepped onto the block and stared expectantly. He lifted his hand and the water followed and we shot straight up into the air with the water lifting us below. I braced my self while looking down in amazement. He lifted us until we were miles above the tree tops and we could see far in front of us.
"I can only carry us until this creek ends. Then I have to return the water" Roy explained. I nodded in understanding and stared in front of me as Roy started us foreword. We rode the waves for miles and at amazing speeds. I couldn't help but watch Roy control his waters. He looked so concentrated and focuses with his hands at his sides and his body rocked forward and his shoulders back and head up. He looked fierce and strong.
"Look. What is that?" I asked, pointing my finger at some rooftops
"Houses. We're getting close to some sort of civilization" Roy explained. We remained silent the rest of the way towards the houses and as we got closer Roy lowered us softly until the water was at its normal height and we stepped off the ice blocks on the bank.
"We'll walk the rest of the way. I don't think it'll be a good idea for someone to see my powers" Roy advised. I nodded in agreement and we walked side by side towards the village.
"Smells like fire" I noticed. Roy didn't reply and we stopped at the edge of the village
"Should we just walk in? Ask to speak to their leader?" I asked.
"Sure. If they attack is we'll be able to take them easily. Especially with this river beside us" Roy said. I nodded and led the way into the village. The houses were made of vines and moss and mud that looked stable and homemade. The people were dressed in normal looking clothes, jeans and t-shirts and coats. They didn't look uncivilized which was a surprise. As we walked towards the center of the town of we began to turn heads and people began to notice us.
"Stop" someone commanded us. We stopped and turned our heads on the direction of the voice.
"Who are you?" A man asked. He wore a thick heavy coat and blue jeans.
"We would like to speak to your leader" I commanded.
"Who are you?" The man asked again, puffing out his chest.
"Prince Loki" I answered shortly. I was beginning to loose my temper. I lifted my head and cross my arms across my chest
"A prince? Prince of what?" The man asked.
"I come from a far off land beyond the seas and I come to your village with my commanding general for shelter and supplies"
"Very well. Follow me" the man instructed reluctantly. I nodded and followed with Roy close behind me. The man led us without saying a word to a strong building made of mud and a curtain covering a large whole in the wall, I'm assuming for a door.
"Wait here" he commanded without turning around. We nodded and wordlessly stood outside the door as he pushed the curtain aside. We shared glances and I took a deep breath through my nose.
"You may enter" the man said, coming out of the hut. He held the curtain side for us and we walked in. The smell of earth and roasted meat and vegetables was overwhelming. The home was much smaller than what I was used to, maybe the size of the living in the Midguardian home Aceleve and I first shared four years ago. A very muscular man sat behind a hand built wooden desk staring down at some papers and maps with only a small fire for light. He wore blue jeans, a long coat in the freezing weather and he had a very impressive beard.
"Please sit" he asked, never looking up. He gestured to two makeshift chairs opposite of him in front of the fire pit.
"Thank you" I said to be polite. Roy sat to the left while I to the right and we remained in silence.
"So" he began. He placed his pen down and laced his fingers together.
