The Quiet One

Chapter 3: Elizabeth

Elizabeth woke up with a killer headache. "Ouch, what happened?" she asked while holding her hand to her head.

"You feinted sweetheart." Elizabeth looked up to see the nurse looking down at her, handing an ice pack to her. "How, what happened, why?"

"I don't know sweetheart but if you want I'll call your mom to come to pick you up or you can stay the rest of the day" the nurse said turning around about to pick up the phone to dial the office's extension.

"NO!" Elizabeth yelled. She knew her mother was at work, And her mother wasn't going to leave just to pick her up so she would've asked Elizabeth's stepfather --frank-- to come to pick her up. And Elizabeth despises Frank because of what he did to her when he and her mom were dating.

"No. No, I'll just stay. It's almost the end of the day." Elizabeth said nervously wondering if the nurse could tell.

The nurse shook her head and wrote Elizabeth a pass to go back to class.

Since it was the beginning of the seventh period she went to class instead of just hiding in the bathroom. "40 more minutes and you're out of here," she thought while walking down the hallway. She was about to into her class when someone grabbed her forearm and next thing you know she was pulled into a janitor's closet.

"OMG! Are you okay?" Teresa screeched while feeling all over Elizabeth's face.

"Yea, I'm fine. I just fainted."

"Are you going home?" Teresa said.

"No, I was going to class before you pulled me in here. I'll talk to you later?"

"Yea of course!" Teresa said while opening the for Elizabeth.

At the last bell Elizabeth hurried to her locker so she wouldn't be caught in the madness called dismissal. Girls were already kissing up against the locker, boys throwing a football back and forth in the halls.

Then Collin started walking towards her and she started breathing hard praying that she wouldn't pass out again and look like a fool.

Then she felt his hand grasp her forearm. "Hey, are you okay?" he asked. A whiff of his cologne hit her and she lost her words for a moment. "Yea I'm fine. I just forgot to eat breakfast and I must've passed out," she said with the fakest smile she could put on.

"Oh, well do you want a ride home?" he asked.

"Um, you don't know where I live. And I don't want to bother you." Elizabeth tried to walk away but he ran up to her, stopping her with his hands on her shoulders.

"My brother used to drive your sister home on Fridays and I would sit in the back seat. I think I remember where it is," he said with a smile.

"Um, okay then," Elizabeth said nervously.

"C'mon let's go," Collin said putting his hand on her waist, leading her to the car.

When they got to her house she quickly tried to get out but his hand landed on her thigh and she stared into his green eyes questioning his gesture.

"Hey, I'm glad you're okay. I couldn't stop thinking about you in class. I'm really glad you are though."

Elizabeth shocked replied, " I'm fine, thanks for the ride." and hopped out of the car and ran to the front porch of her house. When she got inside she checked the window to see him waving at her.

That night Elizabeth's mom called and said she'd be staying at work late, and Lena was staying at a friend's house to 'catch up'. Which meant when Frank would get home they'd be alone. Together.

At that very moment the front door opened and she turned off her light and jumped in bed. But she heard footsteps coming up the stairs and coming towards her room. Her door flew open as she jumped a little.

"Your mom said she's staying late at work."

"I know!" Elizabeth said disrespectfully.

"Watch your, tone bitch!" He spits.

"Okay I'm sorry" she quivered.

She heard him coming closer. "You do what I say slut! I'm your father now. Got it?" She could smell the liquor from his breath.

Her nose scrunched from the smell. Then felt his cold hands slip under the covers and she quickly jumped up. She went to get up and leave the room to go to the bathroom but he grabbed her wrist and grabbed her to sit on top of him. She squirmed to get away but he just laughed and forcefully punched her head on the bed. Then she felt all the pain at once.
