Chapter 8: Collin

"What the hell was that about?" I asked Teresa confused after Elizabeth ran out of the school when she has seen us.

"I don't know what her problem is," Teresa said shrugging, it was like she was used to her running around and out all the time.

" I should go after her" I said almost breaking into a jog when someone's hand grabbed my forearm pulling me to a slow halt.

"No! You have to give her space when times like this, tonight she'll text me and let me know if everything's okay and if not then I'll come over and we'll talk." Teresa said with a smile. It looked fake but, I know she was just trying to calm me down. I don't understand why I was acting this way. Was it because I was nervous because I might be falling for her? But, it was just a bet. Nothing more...I hope.

The day really blurred by for me since Elizabeth was the only thing on my mind. I just felt bad because the last time I saw her than this morning was when she was hurt and crying in her bed and did even feel safe for me to leave her.

I felt my heart beating faster thinking about how she was shaking and weeping in my arms. I wanted to literally kill that guy Frank or whoever the hell he was. How could he hurt Elizabeth like that?

When the lunch bell rang I practically jumped out of my seat and rushed to the door. I stopped off at my locker before going down to the Cafeteria. I walked over to my locker to see a familiar face smiling at me.

"Hey Sugarplum!" Abigail smiled at me.

I made a nasty face and gave her a weak smile trying to get to my locker and I then practically bumped her to the side because she was still standing there looking dumb-founded like she was staring at my talking in German. "Excuse me. Sorry but, I'm busy."

She moved out of the way and stood there waiting for me. "What do you want Abigail?" I asked slowly as I pulled for my lock to open. It did.

"Oh, well I felt kind of bad how I barged into you the other day so how about I treat you to lunch?" She said holding a $50.00 bill.

"UH, that's sweet and all but I think I can manage," I said closing my locker and walking away.

I could hear her heels clanking behind me as I walked into the Cafeteria.

"Please, I feel so bad for making you late to whatever you had to run out of here for."

I sat my bag down at my usual bench and went to get lunch. She followed me. I waited on line to get my lunch and she kept talking.

"So how bout we go out today after school so that I can make up what I did." She stared into my eyes.

"Can't I have to visit someone after school. " I said trying to get her the hint to leave me alone.

"Is it that Elizabeth Brooks? I heard she has some lame ass crush on you, or something like that. I also heard you are doing a bet to take her virginity." She said laughing a little.

"Where did you hear that Abigail?" I asked feeling my face to heat up with anger.

"Don't worry about it. I won't tell you on for your little secret. But why her? You guys should've picked me. I wouldn't have minded getting laid by you." She said smiling and twirling her blonde hair.

"Cause the bet was to take someone's virginity. You picking up what I'm putting down?" I said cold.

She rolled her eyes and walked away without saying goodbye. AW sad me I said in my head playfully.

The last bell rang and I was ready to go over to Elizabeth's house to make sure she was fine. I drove over there so fast. I rang the doorbell and a tall, brolic, man opened the door with an upset look. He breathed and I could smell liquor.

"Hello Sir, is Elizabeth home?" I asked as nicely as I could so that I could try to get invited inside.

"Nah, she should be coming home from school at any moment. Are you supposed to be doing a project with her or something?" he asked with a bright grin.

"No. I was just wondering if she had got home safe." I said quietly.

"Well you can find that out when she gets home, I'm going back to what I was doing," he said wobbling back upstairs.

I waited another 10 minutes wondering if I should just leave. But, as I was standing up and about to head out Elizabeth walked in.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE! HOW DID YOU GET IN HERE." she yelled.

"Your dad let me in, where have you been?" I asked.

"He's not my dad! Get out now Collin, I'm serious." She said pushing me out the door.

I walked through my door and threw my bag on the chair. I sat on my bed and wanted to take a long nap. I was so tired.

I got up and turned on the tv then took off my shoes. I then laid in bed and texted Elizabeth sorry for how I acted.

Collin: Elizabeth, I know you might not want to talk to me right now but, I really want to apologize for how I acted today. I shouldn't have barged into your home like that and asking you questions. I'm also sorry for the kiss, I feel like I've messed up everything and I wanted you to know how I was feeling.

I sat there wondering if I'd said too much and really messed up my chance. But then my phone chimed.

Elizabeth: Collin, you're right and I think we should stay clear of one another, it's not safe and I feel embarrassed about the other night. Thanks for understanding. Goodbye.

I didn't know how to answer so I just left it. What was I supposed to do? I was scared I might like her but, then I had to stay on the fact that the only reason I talking to her was for a bet and now that other students know about the bet she may find out. I had to finish it fast or else. So I was going to do it the night of the Home Coming After-party at some kid named Tyson's house. Only if she would let me get near her.
