Chapter 5: Elizabeth

   The next morning I woke to my alarm. I grabbed my towel and rushed for the bathroom. She felt icky, even though after Frank left her room she took a hot shower. He was an asshole and she hated him.

By the time Elizabeth had got downstairs she had 15 minutes to herself. She didn't eat breakfast.. or anything. Her mom came down dressed and ready to go make a protein shake.

"Morning Liz," her mom said gleaming.

"Morning mom," Elizabeth leaned over and gave her mom a kiss on the cheek.

"How was your first day back?"

"It was okay, I guess," Elizabeth shrugged.

"Did you buy food with the money I left for you?" her mom said screwing the top of her shake on.

"Yeah, I ordered Chinese." Elizabeth lied.
She'd usually save the money and buy gifts for Teresa with it or redecorate her room.

Elizabeth walked down the hall to her locker and her friend Teresa was waiting for her as usual.

"Hey," she said squeezing Elizabeth's arm.

"Hey, what you doing?" I shrugged.

"Nothing, wanna go shopping after school?" she asked excitedly.

"yea, okay, sure," I muttered.

"Okay, let me walk you to class after you're done with your locker," she said.

The first period flew by fast, perfectly because Collin and his friend didn't turn around to talk to me. I sat there watching the back of their necks hoping .. praying they wouldn't turn. Not after I'd been so rude to him I would never be able to face Collin.  I didn't mean to turn him down like that I was just so upset last night because of that dick Frank. When the bell rang I was so happy to go to my next class.  But right as I was walking to my next class my phone buzzed in my pocket.

Collin: Hey darling ❤️!

I hesitated to answer and decided maybe he was texting the wrong person. His girlfriend maybe? I didn't know why he would text me after I treated him like a jerk yesterday night.
Then it vibrated again and I couldn't help but blush a little.

Collin: Wow, you're just going to ignore me like that... I know you have seen it, it says 'Read'.
 
I sat down in the back of the class and quietly texted him back.

Elizabeth: No, I wasn't ignoring you. I was walking into my class.

Collin: I want to talk to you.

Elizabeth: well..I'm in class right now trying to learn..sorry.

Collin: I know that, let me drive you home today.

Elizabeth: I have plans.

Collin: Like?

Elizabeth: You're not my father, and stop texting me I'm in class.

Collin: Okay if you say so. 😔

On my way to lunch I wasn't looking and bumped into someone with a firm stomach and froze. Troy Stephans, I repeat Troy Stephans! The 6'2, tan-skinned, football player Troy Stephans was standing in front of me smiling. I nearly fainted..again.

Then a pair of big hands landed on my shoulders. I turned around to meet eyes with Collin.

"Hey there!" he gleamed.

"Hey Collin, let's go to lunch" I muttered through my teeth.

"Okay, my treat?" He said guiding me to the cafeteria.

When we got to the cafeteria I tried to get out of his hold but he already guided me to a table to sit down.

"Hey, what were you doing with that Trash Stephans guy?" he said with heat rising up his neck.

"For information his name is Troy Stephans, and I wasn't talking to him I bumped into his and didn't have time to apologize because of you," I said forcefully.

"Why did you bump into him?" he said sternly, rolling his eyes.

" Why are you so jealous? I said sounding a bit like a jerk again.

"Hey, what are you doing after school anyway?" he said changing the subject.

"I'm going shopping with my friend Teresa."

" Teresa.," he said tapping his chin.         "Does she have long black hair and she's tall like 5'6 maybe?" he said smiling.

"Uh..yeah. Why?" I asked scared a little.

Never, not even once had thought Asher, Collin's best friend, would talk about or like Teresa for that matter. He never talked to her..at least she never mentioned him and her talking. It just shocked me.

"You're kidding right?" I asked
exclaimed.

"Nope. He's had a crush on her since last year." he shrugged.

My phone rang and I looked at the called ID:
TERESA👭

I answered quickly.
" Hello"
"Hey, Elizabeth are we still on for the mall?"
"Yeah, but a few people are tagging along."
"Such as?"
"Asher and Collin.."
"WHAT?!? Why? Nvm, we have to go find a dress lets go, I'm in the parking lot.
"Okay let me tell them we're leaving."

I rushed down the hall looking for Collin and Asher. But when I got near his locker --Collin-- was leaning over Abigail Richmond. He was smiling and she was smiling back twirling her blond hair. I could feel the lump in my throat start throbbing and the tears swelling up in my eyes. I rushed by and felt someone grab my arm but I just pulled them off. I couldn't cry in front of the school, or anyone. I then heard Asher call out after me as I busted through the double doors leading to the parking lot.

"Hey Woah there, Elizabeth! What's wrong?" he said behind me.

I kept going and then I heard Collin yell my name too and that's when I broke into a sprint to Teresa's car. I felt the tears streaming down my cheeks and started running to her car. As I got to her car, I swung the door open and jumped in, quickly closing the door behind me.

"DRIVE NOW!" I screeched at Teresa.

She started the car and asked "Why are you crying?! And isn't Collin and Asher coming along?"

I could see them about to approach the car.

"PLEASE GO TERESA!" I practically screamed.

Without another word she zoomed out of the parking spot and drove out of the parking lot and I heard my name get called one more time.
