The Quiet One

Chapter 4: Collin

   After Collin dropped Elizabeth home he stopped off at Wendy's to grab a cheeseburger. As he parked into the driveway and he noticed his dad's car was there, which was strange because both-his mom and dad- didn't get off work until five o'clock. He walked into the house and dropped the keys in the tray near the door.
     "Dad?"
"Yeah, up here son!" his dad yelled sounding like he was in the attic.
"Hey, you're home early. Where's mom?" Collin asked a bit confused.
His dad looked up at him from what he was doing. "She staying at the hospital  late, I'm going to pick her up later." Both of his parents worked near one another and got off around the same time so his dad would pick her up from work usually or a friend would drop her home. Collin walked to his room and threw his bag on his bed. He was exhausted, this was a weird first day he thought.

His mom came in and told him dinner was ready. He walked down the stairs and washed his hands at the sink and sat down ready to dig in. They were having turkey wings and macaroni salad. At the table his mom started the conversation.

"So, Collin how was your first day back as a senior?" she asked smiling.

"Okay..but not normal," he said while putting a fork full of macaroni salad into his mouth.

"What do you mean?" his dad asked.

"Never mind I'm exaggerating." he stuttered. "How was your day mom?"

"It was fine, I might get a promotion!" she swings gleaming with excitement.
She works at Montefiore hospital.

"That's a great sweetheart!" dad said leaning over to kiss her on the forehead. Soon we all finished dinner and my mom and dad were clearing off the table while Collin washed the dishes.

Later that night he texted Asher and asked him if he knew anyone who had Elizabeth's number. He didn't know why but, he was still worried about her even though she seemed fine when he dropped her off home. After Asher finally found someone who had it, he sent it to Collin. Collin checked the clock to make sure it wasn't too late to
text her.

Collin: Hey Elizabeth, it's Collin

Elizabeth: um..hi. Collin how did you get my number?

Collin: Nvm that, are you OK? I mean from earlier today? Are you sure you're fine?

Elizabeth: Yea, I'm fine Collin. Go to sleep it's late.

Collin: Not really, but if you say you're OK then I can stop worrying. Good night Elizabeth😊

Elizabeth: Good night Collin.

Soon enough he was drifted asleep.
