Chapter 5

"Here you go. Come on, take a look at yourself." Reyn gave me the mirror.

"Is it really me?"

I looked at myself and I was do amazed by the image looking back at me.

"I'm a lady after all! You just did a great job Reyn. I loved it. Thanks a lot I don't know how to fix myself...really..."

"Just try to comb your hair once in a while..hahahahaha..."

Dinner time. The air was filled with delicious scents coming from the table. We all got up from our stations and hurried towards the source of the smell. The food looked so luscious that our mouths watered.

"This is a feast. Let's have the meal of our lives!"

Maximus jumped at his chair and got some food as fast as he could. Well, I was really starving like him since we haven't brought with us a lot of food.

All were eating hungrily except for Shay who just got a little piece of meat and some veggies.

We never left anything edible at the table. We were so full that we just sat down savoring the sumptuous after taste in our mouths.

"Whoa!" Maximus exclaimed.

"Is it really you Krish? You looked ridiculous. hahahaha. You actually look like a girl," he really was amused with my appearance.

"What?!I look like a girl because I'm a girl!," I was irritated by his amusement.

"You looked really nice." Shay looked at me earnestly.

"Yeah I agree." Xerxi nodded.

"Thanks guys! It's Reyn that patiently took hours fixing my hair. She really can healed frizzy hair. hahahaha."

"Nothing changed." Voltai just mumbled the words.

Is he really that blind?

"You just can't see how beautiful you are." Reyn was really sure of herself.

An attendant came and lists the things that we need for the fight. Reyn had requested a lot of cloth. I don't know if it were necessary for the fight. She really had this enthusiasm for the coming event. Her joy was so contagious that makes us excited in spite of our worries. I just requested for some daggers.

Maximus, Xerxi, and Jazmi stayed outside to practice their abilities with their weapons. Shay took the luxury of a bath while Reyn was busy sewing a dress. Voltai was just asleep.

I went outside the tent. Torches brightened up the dark night. Sounds of clashed steels broke the silence and everyone else was just too anxious for tomorrow's fight. I strolled along a path towards the forest with a lamp in my hand. I found a quiet place to pray for the guidance of my father beneath a large tree.

I have to find a way how to open myself to the spirit world and asked a spirit to have a contract with me.

My father told me that my mother was a great mage. She was a friend of the Queen as well as the one protecting her. But when they fell in love, she got pregnant. The next morning after she brought me into this world, she just disappeared. My father just found me inside a crib with my mother's ring around my neck. He was clueless about what happened. He left me to Master Fu who was also his teacher and spent all his life with the king. My life was a mystery for me.

Father I don't know what to do. Maximus and Master Fu told me I'm good at fighting but I still haven't finished my training and mastered the techniques Master Fu taught me.

Give me wisdom Father. You always told me to fight with a cause. We should win this competition to retrieve the name of our land and a part of me tells me this is my destiny.

I held the ring tight as I prayed deeply. I suddenly felt its warmth. I opened my eyes and saw the ring glowing and there was an inscription.

Pure heart unleashed the power of the stars.
