During the last two days, I´ve got multiple calls from Anthony´s family. They´ve asked about more information about his death, and how I´m keeping up. I don´t think all of them actually care about how I´m keeping up, but they´re asking so they don´t show that they´re using me as an informational source.

I know at least one person cared: Anthony´s mom. She´s been calling the most, even visited once. She´s been so nice to me during all these years Anthony and I were best friends. Whenever I visited their house, she always offered us cookies and asked me how my day was. I last experienced that with Anthony the day before he died.

She used to give me a ride home after school, as well as Anthony, when none of my parents showed up. Most of the times, she insisted that I stayed for dinner. Which I rarely said ´no´ to, considering I almost loved being at Anthony´s place more than my own. I never really told anyone. I was afraid someone would question if my parents didn´t treat me well. Which they did, and still do!

Mrs Padilla care about everyone, she´s truly an amazing woman and mother. I kind of look at her as my second mom, I even called her "Mom" once...

I ate dinner at Anthony´s house and we were just finished eating the delicious pizza Mrs Padilla had prepared.

"Thanks for letting me eat here, Mrs Padilla." I said after eating my third and last slice of pizza.

"Don´t mention it, it´s always nice having you here, Ian." she replied and smiled.

"Really yummy pizza, Mom!" Anthony said. He had just finished his last slice, which was his sixth or seventh.

"That´s nice, Anthony. Last time I asked you, pizza was your favorite. Is it still pizza?"

"Of  course it is, Mom! My love for pizza will be my only love and will last a life time." Anthony answered with a sort of dramatic voice. I laughed.

Mrs Padilla started cleaning the table and we stood up. Anthony asked for permission to leave the table, and she nodded. He ran upstairs, probably to the bathroom. I remained standing.

"Should I help you with the dishes, Mrs Padilla?" I asked, reaching for a plate.

"No, it´s okay. Just go upstairs and play with Anthony. Have fun, you´ve been in school all day." she answered and took the plate I was reaching for.

"Okay. Thanks, Mom." I said quickly, only realizing what I said after it slipped out of my mouth. I began stuttering and I swear my cheeks turned red. "Sorry...I didn´t mean.."

"It´s okay, Ian. I´m pretty sure you´ve almost considered this as your second home, see you´re here so often." she said giggling. "And I don´t mind if you think of our house as your second home, I almost consider you as a bonus son. So, don´t worry about it." she finished and smiled genuinely at me. I weakly smiled back and ran upstairs to Anthony´s room...

I let out a little exhausted laugh. It was so awkward, but she still smiled at me afterwards. God, I can´t believe she still takes care of me after she just lost her son. My parents haven´t even visited for God´s sake. My mom called me once, but it was a short conversation. Don´t get me wrong, she´s a great mom!  But sometimes I wish for a little more attention...
