Edd's POV

I sit by one of the trees outside of school, not wanting to be inside with everyone else. Maybe studying will help
me not think of yesterday.

I grab the first book in my bag. Chemistry. I sigh when I look at the thick white book, turning to the page I left off on. I read a few pages, but I can't remember what I have read. My head is stuck in yesterday.

'What do you look like?' I ask looking at number 12 in his football uniform.
He reaches for his helmet and- before I could see his face I was ripped out of my daydream.
"Sockhead!" Eddy yells walking toward me with Ed behind him.

I look up from my book blushing a little, "salutations Eddy. Ed"

"Why are you sitting outside?"

"I was trying to study," I say shrugging.

Eddy frowns.

"I'm in football!" Ed yells smiling.

"Did you make cheer team, Double D?"
Eddy asks ignoring Ed.

"Yeah, I did actually."

"Oh-that's good," he responds.

"Eddy didn't make Cross Country," Ed explains.

"Oh, I'm sorry Eddy."

"Yeah, whatever."

-time skip-
[A couple days later @ Edd's cheer practice ]

"Today we will be practicing outside, cheering on the football players," Sarah, our cheer captain / Ed's little sister, announces.

As I walked with the girls to the field I kept pulling at the collar of my shirt. I was scared to be around the football players, but I wouldn't mind seeing number 12 again.

I hadn't seen him since that day and lately I had been thinking a lot about him.... I feel bad for being in the closet and having these feelings, but I know if I come out- I will definitely be the main victim of the bullying at school.

"Look!," one of the boys on the team shouted pointed at our cheer group.

"A group of hot girls and the freak!"
Most of the boys start laughing.
I look down.

"Ignore them Double D," Sarah says.
"They are just jerks."

I nod and we do our routines. On our last routine, the prep and elevation (when the flyer is held up at chin height and typically have the flyer has their hands in a high 'V'. ), Nazz, one of our fliers wasn't caught properly and was injured.

One of the football players saw what happened and rushed over picking Nazz up and carried her to the nurses office, so I, the nurse's assistant, could look at her injuries.

Once we got into the nurses office, I gave her Tylenol and advised her to get rest and we would get her a doctor if she didn't get better we would get her to a doctor, because concussions can get serious.

When Nazz laid down I turned around to fill out more of the paper work that was part of this assistant career.

"Thanks for helping Nazz," a voice said behind me. I jumped. How long had that person been there? Turning around I realized the football player had never left.

"Y-yeah, it is part of my job as a nurse assistant," I nodded not making any eye contact.

"Well.. Even if you claim it is because you are the nurses assistant, I still am saying thank you," he said in reply.

"Y-you are welcome."

It was quiet for a while until I heard his voice again.

"Why do you act nervous every time we talk?"

I turn around, "W-what do you mean?"

"That! You are acting like I might hurt you! You are even shaking!"

I bite the inside of my lip to help
calm me down. (not in a sexual way- you sickos!)
"I-I'm sorry."

"You don't have to be afraid of me," he saids then he gets up to leave. As I watch him leave I see the back of his jersey, number 12.
