Friday the 13th
"So are you ready for your date?" Chloe asked as she laid on the bed her backpack hazardly thrown across the room.
"It's just a movie" I said casually as I looked in the mirror and brushed my hair.
"Yea, but think of what could happen" She replied with an evident smirk insinuating something much more.
"We're going to watch a movie" I simply said, as if that magically made it true.
"Nothing else?"
"Chloe" I grumbled putting down my hair brush so I could turn and look her in the eyes "I don't want anything else right now"
"You guys have been dating for over a week" She huffed
"So?" I asked as I tried to make her explain her implications
"You guys should have kissed by now" She awkwardly said as she looked down suddenly becoming interested in my polka dot blue covers.
"We've kissed before" I defensively said.
"I mean as a couple"
"Why does it matter?" I asked getting a bit aggravated by the discussion.
"It's two completely different things" Chloe said sitting up on the bed as she tried to explain the significance to me.
"No, it's not" I said giving no reason to my answer.
"So you're saying that if you kiss a guy then you're dating him?" Chloe asked her eyebrow raised as she tried to comprehend the reasoning behind that
"Exactly" I said as I went back to the mirror in order to fix my hair even more then I had before.
"I didn't know that you dated Sam" She said as a joke before realizing what she had just said. Chloe immediately put her hands to her mouth as if she could take the words back, but it was too late. As soon as the words passed through her lips I stopped in my tracks and felt my whole body turn cold. I suddenly had a flashback to a party in 8th grade.
*****"Omg you haven't had your first kiss yet?" A girl asked me astonished
"No" I timidly answered as I held my drink tighter feeling a bit uncomfortable.
"That's lame" the girl said as she looked around the room trying to find someone else to talk to.
"It's not" I said defending myself.
"Some people have had sex and you haven't even kissed a boy" She said rolling her eyes at my immaturity.
"What's wrong with that?" someone asked walking in behind me.
"Hi Sam" the girl chirped showing a lot more excitement and attention to him then she did to me mere seconds ago, but I couldn't blame her. Sam did look pretty cute.
"Well?" He asked his tone showing a hint of annoyance.
"It's kinda lame" She said with a casual shrug as she continued to dreamily look at him"But it's not like that matters to you"
"I've never kissed anyone before" Sam said giving a slight frown and an unforgiving gaze "Does that make me lame?"
"No. it doesn't, but she's different" the girl said fumbling her words a bit under the intense stare Sam was giving her.
"How's she different?" Sam said pressing the conversation in a way I didn't want it to go.
"Ok, well it was nice talking to you, bye" I said grabbing Sam's hand as I hurriedly dragged him into the hallway.
