"You love me?" I asked completely shocked
"Of course I do" he said with no hesitation
"Why?"
"Why not?" He answered which in my mind was his way of avoiding the question.
"How?" I asked still not believing it
"Taylor we've been close friends for years it was bound to happen to one of us" he answered
"Sam, I'm so sorry. I really don't want to hurt you, but I still want to be friends" I said furrowing my eyebrows together as I felt downright miserable.
"It's ok" he said quickly putting his hands to stop me as if he sensed my emotions "I mean I'm not okay with the fact that you're dating him, I never really will, but all I care about is your happiness. As long as you're happy I will do my best to accept that. Being friends with you will be hard, but as long as you don't always talk about him around me I will try to support you guys." he said answering most of my questions.
"Are you sure you still want to be friends" I asked concerned
"I rather... just be your close friend than lose you" He answered slowly and carefully showing just how much thought he put into it
"Ok" I simply said, my lips curling into a small pout as I thought of all the pain he would go through.
"The bell's going to ring so see ya" he said putting his arms out as he engulfed me in a tight embrace. I hugged him back even tighter as I said bye because we both knew that after today things were never to be the same.
The rest of the day went by really slowly. I mean I was texting Nate here and there, but I was also way too hungry to think straight. I didn't eat breakfast and my lunch was late in the day. After the bell rang I quickly went over to my locker to get my lunch. I was just about to open it when someone from behind wrapped their arms around my waist and spun me around in a circle. I screamed surprised that anyone would do that. I turned around only to be puzzled to see Nate. "What are you doing here?" I asked confused yet happy by this coincidence.
"My class is right there" he said with a chuckle as he pointed to the door right next to my locker.
"Well go" I said shoving him "Don't be late because of me"
"Oh come let me at least spend some with you" he said turning around holding onto my arms.
"What can you in two minutes?" I asked bemused
"I can do this" he said as he went towards my lips his eyes closed as he leaned
"Stop" I automatically said which caused him to flutter his eyes open
"First of all we are not doing this until I actually get to know you. I have standards you know...and second I'm not into the whole PDA thing" I said taking a step back, but still holding on to his hands.
"Alright i'll respect that" he said moving back a bit
"Really?" I asked taken aback by his answer considering the fact that he usually had done a lot more things in his last relationships.
"Of course. A relationship has two people in it. One person can't be in control the whole time" I said with his usual lopsided smile
"Yea" I said with a grin.
"Ok I should go now" he said quickly as he pulled me into a tight hug giving me a soft kiss on my forehead and then running into his class before the bell rang to mark him late. I just sighed with a stupid grin on my face, butterflies in my stomach as I walked down the halls away from him to go to lunch. It's too early to actually like him now right? I thought to myself before being attacked by Isabelle.
