Love, a concept I haven't felt in so long. Sammy Jimenez has asked me out on a date and I can't say no to her. I need press pause on my hunt for Kal and focus on her now. I hope my demonic side decides not to burn me tonight.
I needed to look good for our first date, maybe just maybe a time away from all this stress would be good for me. I looked in the mirror and looked at myself up and down. I wore a red button down shirt, black slacks and shiny black dress shoes. My hair was combed for the first time in forever and my stubble beard wasn't all over the place.
I heard her knocking at the door and I rushed to get it. I opened and she had a short red dress matching to my shirt.
"Hey" she said and I hugged her. "We're taking your car right?" I nodded and we went downstairs. We both climbed into my car and I started the engine. I was nervous every second because it's been years since I have been interested in a female.
"Where to?" I asked her. "We can go to Sunny-side Restaurant." She said yes and I drove towards the big fancy restaurant. "Evig em yenom" I whispered a spell and I felt my wallet get filled with money. Perfect.
We approached the place and I parked right out in front of it. I got off and opened her door giving her a hand standing up. She smiled and we walked inside the place.
"Table for two please" I told the lady in front. She led us to the back and we sat down.
"You look good today Mason" she said to me.
"For once I had an excuse to look good" I said.
"I thought you didn't mind what other people thought of you?" She said.
"I only care about the opinions of the beautiful ones" I flirted. She smiled and opened the menu. Her light brown hair waved in the small breeze from the fan, her hazel eyes glowed in the light and her dress was magnificent on her.
I cringed at my thoughts, it's been so long. Most of my life I have been traumatized by my parents death and the demons I have fought. I had no time for love, but I am actually enjoying this feeling so far.
"May I take your order" a man said approaching us.
"I'll have" I began. "The fish fillet with a side of rice and a fine glass of rum." He wrote this down.
"I'll have the same thing" Sammy said. He wrote this down too and walked into the kitchen. Daeda always told me that fine wine was the best at a first date. He claims to have had tons of love interests in his much earlier days.
We sat and talked for about half an hour and our food finally arrived.
"How is it?" I asked as she took a bite.
"Amazing" she said to me. "I'm glad you ordered it so I could order the same thing." I laughed and began to eat. She stared at me and I felt her soul start to spark up. She seemed to be mesmerized by me. I felt awkward but couldn't help but stare back into her eyes. I leaned in and puckered my lips. She closed her eyes and I closed mine and I felt her get closer.
"Hey you!" I heard a man yelling right before our lips touched. I turned to see a tall man in a black hoodie. It was Sammy's abusive ex-boyfriend. I stood up and he shoved me against the table. "You left me for this punk ass!?"
"You hurt me Kelvin!" Sammy yelled. "And he actually cares about me. Stop this!" The man reached for Sammy but I grabbed his wrist and twisted it. He groaned in pain and swung his other fist. I ducked and kneed his testicles. He fell back but quickly stood up.
He swung his fist but I moved back and grabbed his arm. I kicked his knee and he fell once more. "Don't try that again, Kelvin" I spat at his side. He kicked my ankle and I too fell on the floor besides him. He kicked me and I stood up. He stood up after me and tackled me against the nearest wall. I elbowed his back to get him off of me and he let go of me.
I kneed his jaw and he spat blood. I dragged him outside and threw him against the wall. "You think she loves you!" I yelled at him. "You think she cares about you at all after what you did to her!? You think you can just force her to get back with you!? Well no! Not as long as I am at here her side!" I punched him twice and he fell. He ran away in pain and I saw him stumble across the sidewalk.
I walked back in and asked for a check. I paid and me and Sammy left. I was angry but my soul did not fire up, maybe the love I feel for Sammy repels against my dark side. I knew something good would come out of this. But I felt a small fire begin to grow again, the "repellent love" was only temporary.
"Sorry about that" I said to her. "I did not mean to spook you like that. I just hate him for what he did to you."
"It's okay" she said putting her hand on my shoulder. "I couldn't thank you enough. He's been harassing me online, maybe what you did finally scared him off. So... Where were we before we were so rudely interrupted."
I grabbed her cheek and pulled her in. I felt our lips intertwine within each other and I felt warmth inside, not the burning of my soul inside, but love. I never felt more alive. I backed up and we stared at each other for a good minute.
"Your place" she said and winked.
"Definitely" I said and drove off.
