Shadow's Curse

Chapter 9

Daryl's POV

"When can we get another search party?" I ask my beta, Jack.

"Not until the rest return. Sorry Alpha."

Damn, she is a hard creature to find.

"I need to look for her myself. Nobody has her scent but me."

"How did you get her scent?" A little one asks.

"A long time ago, we were best friends. Inseparable."

Her sister Annabeth is here, but she isn't the same. The gods made her and her brother....special. I was stupid to kill the brother. I had a lot on my mind and I was desperate. Anyway, they are one of a kind. (Because females are generally more powerful in magic) The parents put a block on Cresta's mind, she hasn't been able to remember anything of her past even her abilities were hidden away.

-Cresta's POV-

"When will she be ready?"

I hear a female voice outside of my door.

"I have no clue. She has been asleep for two and a half days."

"She has top present today. The initiation will require blood and she will be exhausted later."

Requires blood? These people are werewolves not a cult!

....later....

"Today we recognize a victim to an enemy. She has survived through it all. She lives to be one of us, A Shadow Moon! I am adopting her, making her my own and she will be respected by all here. Everyone, do not be afraid, she is innocent and is to help us, a grand fighter. Meet Cresta Walker!"

Everyone claps and cheers for me. I don't even know these people. I feel weird, insecure. I walk inside the room and Luna Katherine grabs my hand. They have dressed me in a white dress, traditional for ceremony.

"Luna Katherine, what do I do?"

"Just give me your head."

"What? Why?"

She takes my head and forcefully sinks her teeth into it. Ow!

It starts to bleed and everyone, everything is silent. I feel really nauseous, my head is spinning and I faint.

I wake up in the pack hospital with Luna Katherine by my side.

"You're awake! Good.... How do you feel?"

"Terrible."

"Good, that means it worked."

"What worked?"

"You don't get it do you? This is to help you fit in. We made you one of us, a werewolf, but you won't shift for another week or two."

Shift? That's not possible! I can't turn into one. I'm just a regular Shadow Hunter.

"See it's already happening. You can mind-link properly now."

"You can't read my thoughts, can you?"

"Of course I can."

"Now what?"

"You will start training to rescue your sister. Chase will train you."

I understand now. They don't want to hurt me, they are actually being helpful. I was wrong and I can't believe I thought they were going to mock me and torture me.  These are great people with great pride. They know what a real enemy is.

I lay down in bed after a long day. I mess with the locket and it actually opens. I see a picture of my family. I miss you guys so much. I wish you were here with me. I fall asleep. I dream about them all through the night. Crescent is in it.

"They are coming for you wake up!"

"Who?"

"They, the ones who took me, mom and dad."

I wake up. It's all just a dream. Nobody in their right mind will attack here. These people are too powerful. Then it hits me, Crescent is a guardian. The dream wasn't just a dream. It was a warning. I've got to learn how to defend myself.

-The next day-

"Are you ready?" Gavin is at my door.

"For what?"

"Training. Luna said you were training with me and not Chase! Come on, I'm excited!"

"Hold on. I just woke up. Give me ten."

"Okay whatever you say, Miss Walker."

Great, he is flirting again.

"I heard that!" He chuckles and paces around my door.

I head to the closet and pull on a tee shirt, yoga pants and pull my dark brown hair into a pony. I open the door and walk out,

"There you are. You ready?" He blushes every time I see him.

"Yeah."

"Just down here"

We walk down the stairs and I feel just as I did last night, dizzy and nauseous.

"You okay? You don't look so well."

"Yeah, I'm fine. Can we go?"

I can hear him in my head.

"Feisty, and dangerously beautiful. I really like this one." I hope he realizes I can hear him.

"Not gonna happen Romeo...."

"Here we are, we are gonna start out in the woods. Don't worry, it's our territory."

He leads me to a grove and it is secluded and beautiful. It gives me a sense of security and stability.
