Taylor was walking towards his afternoon class when he passed by Carmen and immediately felt his body stiffen. She stopped and turned to look at him with saddened eyes. She opened her mouth to speak but he interrupted her.

"Are you sure it's mine?"

His question seemed to take her aback as she froze for a few moments before finally speaking.

"Of course─what kind of person do you think I am? You think I'm lying?"

He didn't say anything and only continued to look at her. She sighed as she adjusted her bag.

"If you don't believe me, we can do a DNA test. We can go right now if you want."

He didn't want to prolong his uncertainty and immediately nodded his head.

"I'll drive," was all he said before she followed him to his car and he drove her to a nearby hospital.

For the rest of the week, after finding out the results of the test, Taylor could not think straight. He tried over and over again to find a way to get rid of his mistake but the only way he could think of was an abortion, something which he didn't want to put Carmen through even though he barely knew the girl.

He had tried his best to avoid Stacy, in hopes of avoiding suspicion but he wasn't able to accomplish even that. And when she approached him the day before, asking if they could do something together, he couldn't say no. Because he knew that no matter how hard he wanted to erase it, he had made a mistake and he would have to face the consequences.

And so as he prepared for their movie date in his dorm, he couldn't bring himself to feel happy about seeing her because he knew that the night would not end well. And after the movie had ended and he told her, he knew that he had never felt ashamed of himself like he did at that moment.

As he watched her standing before him with tears in her eyes, he couldn't shake the dread which filled him, knowing that he was the cause of those tears.

"How could you?!" Stacy yelled, throwing the pillow which had been beside her for the majority of the night. He didn't block it as the pillow made contact with his face, barely causing him any pain. But no matter what she threw at him, he knew that he would never be able to feel the pain which she felt at that moment.

"I thought you loved me," she said between her tears. He opened his mouth to speak but she interrupted him.

"Don't you dare lie to me Taylor. After what you've done, you don't get to tell me that you love me."

And as he heard those words, he felt as if someone had pierced his heart with a knife. Stacy picked up her bag from where it lay on his sofa before walking past him in the direction of the door. But he held onto her wrist.

"Stacy─"

"Don't say my name."

"Just let me explain," he pleaded. She turned around, allowing him to get a closer look at how red her eyes had gotten from crying. He felt his eyes sting slightly as he looked at her, feeling his free hand subconsciously reaching out to her but she slapped it away.

"Unless you have a way to undo all of this, I don't want to hear anything from you."

And with that, she jerked her arm away and continued walking towards the door, opening it and slamming it behind her.

At that moment, he couldn't take it anymore as he allowed his anger towards himself to get the better of him; picking up the first thing he could find and throwing it towards the TV. He watched as his flat screen was smashed by the remote, screaming as the tears continued to stream down his face.

He fell to the floor and placed his head in his hands as he continued to cry, wishing with every fiber of his being that there was a way to go back to the night of the party to prevent all of this from happening.
